"Floor looks beautiful! Reliable installers, who accommodated every request. They showed up before 8 every day and worked hard to get this difficult job done as quickly as possible. We requested a Versailles pattern, and it looks gorgeous! They were even able to repair cracked tiles in 2 other bathrooms without damage to surrounding tiles. They use a system to level each tile with the adjacent tiles. Looks better in real life, because pictures are a little dark. Note that they don't replace the floor trim, touch up paint or re-install toilets. The quarter round part of our trim was difficult to remove without breaking because the seams were caulked. So the quarter round isn't back on yet and the paint hasn't yet been touched up in these pictures. But even with the toilet removal they added toilet water solidifying crystals (ie. Oatey LiquiLock) so water wouldn't spill. Thank you, Michael and team!"

"My table was not level after another carpenter changed my table legs. He assessed the cause, and quickly fixed the problem. I’m so happy to have a stable table. I was so impressed that I have already asked him to make a custom table for my plants."

" We had an outstanding experience working with **Tona Home Improvements**. From start to finish, Kladji and his father demonstrated true professionalism, craftsmanship, and integrity. They completed the full renovation of our basement—including framing, electrical, plumbing, and finishing touches—all with the proper permits and inspections in place. What really set them apart was their clear communication, attention to detail, and respect for our home and timeline. They listened to what we wanted, offered thoughtful suggestions, and made sure every part of the project met high standards. The end result is a beautiful, functional basement that exceeded our expectations. We’re so grateful for the care and expertise that Kladji and his father brought to the job. Highly recommend **Tona Home Improvements** for any home renovation project—especially if you're looking for quality work done right the first time."

FAQs for tile: ceramic and porcelain repair projects in Jersey City, NJ

People use the terms refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing interchangeably. Refinishing is a process that repairs old tiles and gives them a fresh new coat of finish. This is also called tile resurfacing or reglazing.

Yes, you can refinish tiles as a DIY project, but it’s important to follow all the steps involved. These include the following:

  1. Clean the tiles or hire a local tile cleaning service to remove all the residue (soap film, oil, grease, and dirt).

  2. Etch the tile to ensure the refinishing solution adheres properly.

  3. Fill in any cracks or chips in the tile.

  4. Recoat the grout.

  5. Repair any missing or damaged caulking where applicable.

  6. Apply the refinishing product, primer, and enamel.

Your newly reglazed tile should last between 10 and 15 years with proper installation. However, higher-traffic areas and moisture may result in a reduced life span. Explore the cost of different tile types to determine which material works best for your home and needs.

Your bathtub and tile refinishing cost will likely seem like a small price to pay for the transformation it offers. Provided your tile and grout are both intact, refinishing will bring a brand-new style at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, most ceramic tile is paintable with specific epoxy or tile paints. However, you’ll want to avoid areas of heavy use or moisture, such as countertops, showers, and bathtubs. Paint can crack, bubble, or wear away over time, especially on floors.
