"Brandon and Haley with Quality Flooring and renovations did an outstanding job renovating our powder room. They came and worked in our home on a holiday and delivered as promised. The old wood was replaced with new wood. They installed a new toilet and new sink and our powder room looks magnificent. Can’t recommend this company high enough! Call them today!"

"My wife and I had our entire house recarpeted by Floor Coverings International of Charleston.  We had previous experience working with Kathy Bullock for some interior design work and knew that she would be able to help us make the right flooring choices.
Kathy and Rob came to the house with their mobile flooring showroom filled with hundreds of samples to choose from.  They were great at working with us to identify what styles and colors we like and that would go well in our home which really helped us narrow down the choices to make the final selection.
Knowing that we were shopping the big box retailers as well as local carpet sellers they knew they would have to be competitive on their pricing. We didn't expect them to be able to match the competitors pricing but were pleasantly surprised when they were not only able to match the pricing but able to do so with a higher quality carpet and padding option.
When it came to installation it was a big job and took two days to complete but they were personally on-site to supervise their crew to ensure everything was correct.  When the work was complete, furniture put away and carpet vacuumed they did a final walk through and inspection with us to make sure we were satisfied with everything.
We highly recommend their services and will definately use them in the future for any flooring needs.

"I went with this company based on discussions with neighbors. My last carpet install was by one of the big box stores and I wasn't happy with the install or installers although the price was better. Christinia at the store was knowledgeable about ther product and was pleasant to deal with. The issues I had were with the installation. The quality of the installation was not what I was hoping for and in fact was below the quality of the big box install.
Some of my issues with the insatll are; there are visable seams, the installers did not have a working vacuum to clean up the dust and debris so they tried to sweep it with a broom, the taping of the seams in padding.
I made my selections of padding and carpet based on the fact that this house is a rental house. I selected a moisture resistant pad so the padding might not be soaked with moisture from steam cleaning and or pets. I discovered the old padding was also moisture resistand and the seams were carefully taped with duct tape and seemed very moisture proof and were of a high quality. The carpet wholesaler installers used a paper masking type of tape which did not seem moisture proof and did not seem to stick to the padding very well. It was pretty obvious because I kept the old moisture proof padding in two of the rooms so the quality of the new install was easy to compare as the old and new were side by side. I mainly purchased the more expensive padding based on Christinia's information about moisture resistance. I don't think that was a good choice based on the type of tape used as I believe any moisture will quickly find its way into the padding through the seams.
The company promises to remove and haul away the old carpet and padding. The reality is if the carpet is pet stained and smelly they won't haul it away. They will haul it to the road with some very firm prodding. I understand this policy the carpet installers don't want a smelly van when they haul the new carpet to the house. I just wish I had know that before hand. They left the stained carpet and padding in the garage and when they were leaving they didn't want to take it to the curb. I had to insist that they haul it to the curb. In the end I said I would help them and the three of us carried carpet to the curb.
I believe the quality of the install would have been worse if I was not present watching what was done. Of course it does look better than what was there. The installers did there best. It seems like a grueling job and I understand they didn't want to haul anymore carpet than they had to on a hot 90 degree day. There may be a reason why they don't use the standard silver duct for padding seems but they should as it seemed to be effective based on looking at he existing padding from ten years ago.

FAQs for carpet repair, refasten, or stretch projects in Johns Island, SC

Removing a rug costs around $0.40 to $0.50 per square foot. This includes the fee for a contractor to roll up the rug and haul it away in a vehicle for disposal or recycling. If they need to move furniture, they might charge an additional $0.25 to $0.30 per square foot of furniture.

If your carpet has minor damage—like a single area that requires stretching, patching, or cleaning—it might be less expensive to pay for carpet repair than remove and replace it. Repairing carpet costs around $210 per project.

The cost of carpet cleaning is about $190 for a three-bedroom home, so it’s a good idea to have your carpet cleaned at least once a year. But most carpeting only lasts 10 years. If your carpet is nearing the end of its life span, it might be more cost-effective to remove and replace your carpet than to clean and repair it. The average cost to install a new carpet is about $1,800.

Search our directory of carpet removal companies and services to find an affordable, screened contractor near you. All HomeAdvisor listings are vetted, reviewed, and rated by homeowners, so you can be sure to find a local pro qualified for your project. Get at least three quotes to compare prices and the timeline for your project.

Commercial carpet removal usually costs on the lower end of the carpet removal price range, around $1.10 per square foot or even less. Carpet installation contractors often offer discounted rates for larger projects, like commercial carpet removal and installation. Similarly, you might be able to negotiate a lower residential carpet removal cost if the carpet is pulled up throughout your entire home.

Most cities accept old carpets as bulk trash, but you may need to schedule a special pickup and prepare the carpet properly. Remove any nails or glue residue, cut the carpet into manageable pieces, and roll and secure them. Alternatively, you can take your old carpet to a local recycling center for a small fee, where it can be processed and repurposed.

Yes, you can remove carpet yourself if you're ready for a labor-intensive task. DIY carpet removal requires heavy lifting and tools like utility knives, pliers, and pry bars. The process is generally straightforward but time-consuming for stapled-down carpet. If your carpet is glued down or you're worried about damaging the subfloor, hiring a professional is best to ensure the job is done safely and efficiently.
