"The service provided was Excellent! The radon level is now safe!! Joh and his team agreed to instal the system on one of the coldest days of the year in early Jan because I was worried and didn't want to wait for better weather. They were punctual, professional and personable. Joh helped pick the location for the unit so that it would be functional but also uninstrusive in the basement and on the outside of the house. Except for the soft whirring sound you would never know the system was there. It blends in so well on the outside that it just looks like another drain spout. I couldn't be more pleased. I would highly recommend them to anyone that wants to lower the radon in their house to a safe level."

"Every once in awhile you come across people who by their presence, make the world a sunnier, brighter, and more congenial place. George Kasimirsky is one such individual. Not only did he do an excellent job performing a home and radon inspection, he was able to make the process enjoyable. George was thorough, patient, knowledgeable, cost effective, and timely: an inspector who has your back in researching one of life's larger purchases. I highly recommend National Property Inspection and plan on working with George in the future if the need arises!"

"Mold Medics was fantastic. They contacted me quickly, gave a very fair quote, explained everything thoroughly and scheduled work within a week. We had some major mold in our attic. They removed it all and the wood beams look practically brand new. Amazing. The salesperson was very knowledgeable and the crew did quick, impressive work. The price was around what we expected but much less than at least one other quote we received. We will recommend Mold Medics to anyone anytime."

"Randy did a great job and it was a pleasure working with him. He was very detailed and patient with us as we had many questions/concerns buying a 100-yr old house. The home inspection report was very thorough and laid out in an easy to understand manner. Inspection included home inspection, radon and insect and was well worth the money as we were able too leverage the report to negotiate additional savings on the home sales price. Will definitely work with Randy again if we buy another house in the Pittsburgh area."

"I am buying house in Pittsburgh, PA and I'm living out of state. Found Tom Moore on Angie's List and made an appointment. Both of my brothers met him at the home I was buying. One brother is white collar and one brother is blue collar. They were both very impressed with Tom. He was on time, professional, went through everything an inspector should. I made a list for my brothers to give to the inspector...things that I saw that I specifically wanted to know about. He went through that list too. He also inspected for termites and carpenter ants, etc.

I decided not to buy the home because of it's age. His report was satisfactory for the age of the home, but the age of the home was what I decided was too old for me. Both my brothers would have most likely bought the home if it was them. However it was a personal decision. I will find another house in the next 2 months and I will call Tom to do the inspection and I will be there along with my brothers. It's a great house, just not for me and my niece.

I received a detailed written inspection via e-mail the next morning. Before 8:00 am. I would recommend him to anyone...and as I said...will call him when we find the right house."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Greensburg, PA

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
