"We had remodeled one apartment and Sosso Remodeling provide us with the plastering and finishing touches for the remodeling process. We are very pleased with the work they have done and also with the time frame that the work was performed. If we will need any other work done, we will hire Sosso Remodeling again."

"First off, customer service is extremely important to me and the guys from ABC earned five stars in friendliness. They were also punctual and kept me informed through the entire job. Once the work was completed they went over everything with me and made sure I had all the spare parts for any changes I wanted to make in the future. As a military family your spouse isn't always around to do "projects" around the house so it's nice to know that you can call these guys to get the job done."

"Very good quality work. Very friendly and courteous and neat. They are very experienced at coordinating between the different services and subcontractors involved so things were headache-free. I think this would be very important for a bigger job, but might have been overkill for our very small project. Their portion of the job was very expensive in my opinion, and if we had to do it over again I would probably shop around a lot more and think I could've saved 25%. There was a little bit of a lack of attention to detail as there were a couple of finish and trim things which I ended up having to install myself (towel bars, etc) , and the tile installer had to scrape away more of the old mortar which was still on the floor in places. Having said that, we are very please with how things have turned out and we had peace of mind working with such a professional company with lots of resources, but it did cost quite a bit. <br />"

"He did fix and repair the various tasks assigned to him.  He did a decent job.  He worked unsupervised so he came and left and worked around his busy schedule while he attended to other jobs in between while finishing this project I assigned to him.  Therefore the job took longer than I expected.  He quoted me a rate higher than we originally agreed to and I felt he was taking advantage of me and the situation.  I did not like that style.  He started out great but it ended with great disappointment and a sour note. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Kaneohe, HI

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
