"Replaced my federal pacific panel and breakers with new Eaton CH panel and breakers. Also installed new gfci where needed in my home. Also found a short on one circuit and repaired it. All work was done quickly and at a very reasonable cost. I highly recommend them"

"They were very professional and friendly when completing the upgrades to my breaker panel. They walked through additional recommendations or services offered but were not pushy about selling them. When the job was completed,"

"Jimmy was great! He was able to schedule my appt very quickly. The work was for a buyer inspection report repair that was needed on a property we were selling. He arrived on time (in fact, a little early, so bonus points in my book for that). The work was done promptly & professionally. Plus he took care of another small issue with a loose outlet in the kitchen, that I asked him about just on the spot. Whole experience was 100% positive from start to finish. Can't ask for anything more than that! Price was reasonable. I'm a happy customer & will definitely give Jimmy a call for any electrical work in the future."

"Rolando Gonzalez, Next Level Electrical Solutions re-installed our landscape lights with stakes and the correct outdoor electrical wiring as the previous person used green CHRISTMAS LIGHT wire! Rolando is very professional kind honest and fair providing service with a smile. He really does respectfully come up with the best solutions. During his assessment of what was needed to correct the lights Rolando sent links to materials needed. He showed up on time, corrected and re-installed the lights and actually finished earlier than anticipated. Now my landscaping lights looks professionally installed. Needless to say I highly recommend Rolando and look forward to my next electrical project with him."

"The Mister Sparky repairmen were excellent. They had to pull the panel to replace wire. They waited for the City to come do their "thing" and then worked tirelessly to replace the wiring and get power back on. The guys were pleasant and very professional to work with."

"William, the Technician was very professional and discovered the problem right away. Then informed me that he would perform a safety check on all the electrical connections in the electrical panel free as part of the agreed on pricing. This was a really good experience and would highly recommend Mr Electric North West to anyone who need electrical help!"

"Mr. Rosales, a Master Electrician, was respectful of my very clean house, he showed me that he cared about the concerns of his customers, by taking time to explain a situation where I was having trouble with an electrician that Home Depot recommended as the best of four .The electrician had put a live wire in a commercial box and set it on the floor in front of the dishwasher that was not up to CODE It was not a GSCL plug that is required for new dishwashers. I will definitely call Mr. Rosales for all of my electrical work in the future."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Katy, TX

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
