Small jobs welcome

"Bogie and his workers have excellent skills and really pay attention to details. Bogie remodeled my townhouse top to bottom including creating two bathrooms in place of the one original bath, moved the laundry area, changed the hall/stair configuration, new kitchen cabinets and appliances and new island eating area in a very small space, new flooring and new composite decking on front porch, back deck and two balconies, new electric, plumbing, crown and baseboard molding. Took this 1980s looking townhome into a very modern contemporary and comfortable home all with me being far away from Key West. He had great ideas he showed me with design drawings and pictures but was not afraid to try anything I came up with. He is very easy to work with and went the extra mile for us. Wish I could add pictures his work is beautiful. Would use him again."

"I just wanted to update a review with new information. We had picked Karoly to replace 4 hurricane impact patio glass sliders. Karoly did an excellent job & we were glad we picked him. The point of this update is the truest measure of any contractor you hire is how do they respond if there is an issue or problem, that when you really find out who you're dealing with. On one of the glass panels there was a slight defect, Karoly notified me (at the time I didn't even notice it) contacted the manufacturer, reordered a new panel and pursued the completion until we were happy. This proved to us we had in fact placed our trust in the right person and right company. I can not emphasize this enough Karoly can be trusted, his Company is very professional and you can't ask for better people to deal with. Hire someone else at your own risk or just go with a proven PRO- KAROLY"

"<p>Unfortunately, I have to update my original review due to some issues with the product after the first large rainstorm.  I contacted D and D immediately after the first rain to advise them the patio was leaking where the aluminum roof connected to the house. They did send someone out quickly, and they sealed the connection.  After the next rain the problem still existed.  Again, I contacted them immediately.  They sent another guy out during a rainstorm and he witnessed first hand the leaking patio.  They could not make a repair that day due to the weather, so they came back another day and again tried to fix the problem.  No such luck.  I continued to call them after each rainstorm because the patio continued to leak. I was told they were tired of sending men out.   After about 6 months of no results and my frustration, I asked for my money back and for D and D to remove the structure since they could not seem to fix the problem.  Cary, the owner, told me it was my roof leaking and not his screen patio installation.  He said he was sure it was my roof so if I could prove it wasn't my roof then he would address returning my money and removing the structure.  I called my roofer for an inspection,  since my roof is fairly new and still under warranty.   My roofer said it was their installation causing the issues.  My shingles were air tight and secure.  I sent Cary pictures my roofer took and the invoice.  He did pay my roofer for the inspection but still did not think it was D and D's problem.  He insisted that he needed to send his own roofer.  I again took additional time off to accommodate this appointment.  The roofer he sent out also said the issue was caused by the way the work to re-install the enclosure panels was done. D&D's roofer (the one they had chosen to inspect their work) informed us D&D had broken the seal by prying out the metal strip when replacing the fascia and that was causing the leakage every time it rained.  In response to this, Cary said he would pay for the proper repairs to be done to eliminate the leak. On the day before all this was finally scheduled, Cary told us he would not authorize payment for the repairs without his foreman being there witnessing what work was required to stop the leaks. While I can understand why Cary would want his foreman to see first hand what work was going to be done, it was somewhat disconcerting to find this out late in the afternoon the day before my roofer was scheduled to show up and start the work.  With this new twist, I had to miss another two hours of work as I needed to be at the house when the two contractors showed up to determine if Cary was going to be liable for the repairs.  Understand, these repairs required by the roofer were estimated to cost $1800 and I did not want any more issues with who was going to pay for the botched installation. On a positive note for D&D, the foreman had pointed out three or four areas wherein the install was done improperly and going forward, they received some very good advice .Cary did finally agree to pay my roofer to do the repairs that were needed after his (Cary's) foreman called Cary from my house (the job site) after meeting with my roofer and being shown exactly what D&D had done incorrectly on their install that was the root of the problem.</p> <p>Thru all this, it was very disappointing to me that Cary never stepped foot on my property to check the quality of his crew but instead continued to say the leaks were due to my roof being faulty.  When I suggested Cary come by and meet with us, the idea was rejected. He was not very nice and he was accusatory.  There was constant communication with Monica at D and D and she relayed all my messages and emails to Cary.  I was very patient, it took over 6 months and numerous repair efforts along with being told it was my roof and I needed to prove it wasn't.  Please note that from day 1 the patio/screen enclosure looked great!  The issue only was noticed after the first rainstorm and continued each and every time it rained.  It took<strong> 6</strong> months to get this issue resolved.    </p> <p>The initial install was "finished" the day before Easter, but it took until the first week in December, countless phone calls, many, many hours of missed work and an enormous amount of stress and frustration, but it is finally done,</p>"

"Called Jennings Aluminum for a quote to build a screened sun room and a complete screen room around my pool.I had a nightmare with Island Paradise Builders (Joel and Brenda Simmonds) who put the pool in and and quot;forgotand quot; to call the inspections and didn't build as per the permit. Having fired them I was lucky to find Jeff because he put me in contact with trustworthy local tradesmen and gave me a very reasonable quote that I accepted. The work was sheduled and on the start date they turned up with half the room fabricated and started the installation. All went perfectly.Everything was left clean and tidy every evening. The staff were polite and courteous. <br /> I would highly reccomend Jennings Aluminum to anyone needing an honest professional job done. <br /> I am 100% happy and satisfied with their work and work ethics and have no problem in giving them a highly recommended title. <br />"

"I was a little nervous about ordering windows on the internet using measurements I'd taken myself, but I loved the design on the website so, initially I only ordered 2 windows to check the quality, my ability to measure accurately and the company's ability to build to my measurements. Jeff, the salesman I dealt with was attentive without being overwhelming and the first order was delivered in about 4 weeks. The windows were exactly what I was looking for and fitting them was a breeze. I followed up with another order for the remaining 13 windows in my porch and again, they arrived quickly, were of great quality, exactly to size and easy to fit. Looking forward to see how they last their first winter."

"Robert did a great job explaining my options for the unit, and guided the project through a challenging permitting process in Fort Lauderdale, but he and his team were persistent and got it done. They did great work on the unit install and the electrical work that went with it, and the room is nice and cool now. I highly recommend this company for your A/C needs."

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Key West, FL

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
