"Another outstanding job by Jim! The back deck was in desperate need of repairs and needed to be taken care of ASAP, as the house was about to be listed. Jim rearranged his schedule to fit me in almost immediately. He replaced pieces of the deck, power washed, scraped, sanded, and stained the back deck. His attention to detail was very apparent. ")This work was done in the Spring of 2013.  At the time I was happy with the experience, and overall the quality seems fine.  My only complaint is this:
The house is under contract to sell, and the property inspection conducted for the buyer determined that the vent stack boots (replaced by James Taylor Construction as part of the roofing job) were not properly fastened and so could leak.  I emailed James Taylor and placed two phone calls to the person that supervised my roof replacement - I had to leave messages as the person did not pick up.  In the messages and the email I provided a description of the issue.
The company has responded to neither the email nor the voice messages.  I have had to get another contractor to do the work as closing is imminent.
I find it disappointing that any contractor, let alone one with a good reputation, would not stand behind the quality of their work.  It would have been a simple matter for them to send someone out for perhaps 1/2 hour of work.

"the work was started a few days after the contract was agreed too and signed. Work progressed fairly rapidly until we got into a period of wet weather which slowed the work down but persistence paid off and it was finally completed about on the schedule if you consider the rain days.
The work looked good, the doors were installed perfectly, the old electrical cover plates were replaced.  We particularly like the way the outdoor lights, outlet, power meter etc. were mounted to the house and trimmed out.   
overall we were very happy with the work and will use American Home Improvements and Remodeling again.
