"Andrew is top notch in my book, and I am so very glad that I hired him. I was told by another professional a long time ago that I needed two suction points since I had two cement slabs, and Andrew assured me that it typically is not needed, and if it is for some odd reason it won't cost me anything more than what his original quote was. All questions answered with confidence. I was notified when he would arrive on the day that was agreed. The suction point was discussed and ultimately my own locations he selected without argument he worked with me and suggested area's that would work out. He assured me that if the levels of radon are not below 2 then he would come out again to modify the size of the fan and or add another suction point. when he started working once the suction location was agreed upon, work went very fast with his assistant outside and Andrew in the basement holes drilled suction tubing installed and vented exactly where I wanted it. Outstanding job Andrew!!!! "

"Awesome 🤩 was/is James Nelson, Design Specialist with American Waterworks, out of the Fargo, ND office was absolutely wonderful to work with. (Really this Company has impressed us from the beginning!) always quick to respond and very patient…. There was zero pressure …. no pushy sales tactics at all — just good information, very clear explanations, and genuine care. He took the time to answer questions, explain good options, and made us feel comfortable and valued as people, not just potential customers. From the very beginning, And even now after James has been yet kind and incredibly understanding of our situation. Unfortunately We are not able to move forward with our basement project at this time, and James has showed nothing but grace and respect about that. No doubt that James is a true professional and a rare find these days. We absolutely 💯 Highly, highly recommend James and American Waterworks And Solutions… We thank you!!"

"Radon stoppers was the most competitive bid, minimally intrusive interior install, barely visible outside, electrician was very thorough including wiring lights in the garage attic, fan operates quietly, the only contractor would who do a pre-installation assessment, adhered to the contract bid, install happened soon after the bid and most importantly our radon level was 6.2 pCi/L prior to the install/.8 pCi/L after."

"I received three bids that were all competitive with each other. Walt differentiated himself, however, with his detailed, knowledgeable approach, elegant solution, and follow-up upon completion. His team stood out with their focused, diligent efforts to complete the work the day they started while overcoming some unforeseen challenges. Highly recommended."

"These guys are wonderful people and great to work with! They really go above and beyond, where do I start...Firstly, Midwest Radon does things right. I had multiple bids to install a new radon system in our house we just purchased as the levels came in higher than what the EPA considers safe. They guaranteed radon levels below 2 pCi/L, which was the lowest levels when comparing bids. Secondly, Jack, John, and Mike are all professional and flexible to the homeowner's needs. Communication and timeliness was not an issue at all, they kept me informed and showed up when they said they were. Midwest Radon told me that they will pull the appropriate permits, and get an electrician to install the outside outlet to power the system. Not all of the other contractors were going to pull the permits and get an electrician to do the work, these guys do it the right way! Not to mention, Midwest Radon's bid was extremely fair, considering the additional cost of the permits and the peace of mind that you get with someone from the city coming out to make sure the work is completed within code. Once the work was done, they cleaned up well. Other than the visible radon mitigation system, I couldn't tell they drilled two holes in my basement to complete the install. Lastly, I had an issue with a neighbor about the radon system. John and Mike were more than happy to make a trip to my house to figure out a solution (free of charge) that works for myself and my neighbor, which we ultimately did. Never, did I feel dismissed by them or I wasn't as important as someone who is about to pay for a new system. I'm confident that if I ever have any other issues, I could call them and they'd be willing to do anything reasonable within their control. The biggest shame is that these guys only install radon mitigation systems, I'd be comfortable using them with any work that needs to be done in my house."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Kimball, MN

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
