"I had wanted a lower deck and fenced area for my dog, we worked on ideas and feasibility and costs. I had a large deck and fenced area with black mesh and 48 inches tall on the fence and I added a gate."

"I had flooding in my basement and after the drying and installation of a sump pump system, I needed a lot of reconstruction. This involved replacing carpet with vinyl plank flooring, some framing/drywall work, painting, tiling, etc. As always Mark and his crew did a great job. In addition to making sure all the work was properly completed, everything was also left cleaner than they found it. I really appreciate the attention to detail."

"If you need anything done with your home John Tripp is the man to call. He replaced my bathroom vanity and resealed a toilet for me. Courteous, knowledge, and if he can’t do what you need he’ll refer you to someone that can that is trustworthy and will get the job done right. 5 star company in my humble opinion."

"Jess came over the day I called him and went to work immediately to caulk the flashing and temporarily reattach the rain gutter until he could come back and replace some rotten fascia and attach the gutter. We had some very heavy rain forecast and his temporary fix prevented more damage. He managed to come back a few days later, after the rain, and completed the job. He also cleaned the gutters."

"Alex listened to what I wanted, old deck torn down, and a new one built. Alex went over exactly what he would do for us and gave me his estimate.  The estimate was a very good deal.  As soon as I signed the contract, Alex showed up the next day ready to begin the job. Due to the rain, Alex had to come back the next day and what I like is that Alex kept me fully informed on what he was doing and what his plans were to complete the job. <br /> Alex did exactly what he was hired to do, build a new deck.  Alex made sure our new deck was stronger than our old deck and added additional bracing for no extra charge. <br /> I am very happy with the work that Alex did for me and he will be the first I call for any new construction work I need to have done.  This is the third construction job that Alex has done for me and I am happy with all of the work Alex has done over the past year. <br /> I trust Alex and that is very important to me when I hire someone for construction work. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Blake did a fantastic job in the basement. The job was complicated by discovering extensive water damage but he took care of everything and went above and beyond to finish the job. While the original schedule was out the window because of the water damage, the job was finished in a timely manner with the team working late on several occasions just to get things done. He even added finishing touches that were not included in the contract, and did not charge for them, just to make everything uniform and professional. He was conscientious, polite, considerate and kept the job site as clean as possible which was great as we were living upstairs during the job. I would highly recommend Blake Brothers Contracting and we plan on working with him again next year to remodel the upstairs and kitchen."

"We are very satisfied with our experience with Mr. Campbell and his company.  We highly recommend his company. <br /> <br /> We obtained Mr. Campbell's name as a reference from a satisfied customer who was acquainted with my wife.  He was very prompt, gave us an estimate, and we scheduled the work to be done.   Actual start date was delayed about 2 weeks due to inclement weather and the fact the Mr. Campbell is very much in demand.  He kept us advised of his availability throughout and began work In September, 2011. <br /> He completed the project on-time and within the estimated cost , without any interruptions or additional costs. <br /> He waited until the treated wood had cured and applied the finishing coat of sealant in November, 2011. <br /> The new deck looks great !! <br /> <br /> We are VERY satisfied with the quality of their work and would recommend his company to anyone needing any type of home repair or remodeling.  He and his crew are professonal, knowledgeable, experienced and energetic.  They work long hours and are always busy, so plan ahead and have some flexibility in your schedule for bad weather.  You will get  a completed project that is well-done !! <br />"

"Tyson and his team completely remodeled the upstairs apartment in our home. This included removing all the drywall, reframing the roof to allow for a vaulted ceiling, putting up new walls, working with our electricians and plumber. And then completely renovating the mini kitchen. Tyson turned an ugly apartment into a Smokey mountain inspired hideaway."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Kingston, TN

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
