"Do NOT hire this company. I had them come out to my mother's house to look at some recessed lighting issues. The first technician, Passmore Copeland, was very nice and capable and then in comes second technician, Anthony Palmieri, because his other appointment was cancelled so he "thought he'd swing by." I didn't ask for two technicians!. I didn't get any chance to approve any work, they did work that I didn't ask for, and I finally got an estimate for services after the work had been done. I had no contract, I wasn't asked anything.....This was supposed to be a Christmas present for my mother to fix four lights. $1000+! She was so devastated that she paid for half of it when she doesn't really have the means to do so. I contacted the company and they have not responded to my email, but be aware...."

"Do not use this company. They will rip you off. The contract was for eight 300W LED 40 ft pole lights, but I caught them redhanded installing 240W. Who does that? Then, they broke my lock and broke into my sprinkler room which I saw on my video which they admitted. Then, Kolb sued me for not paying the bill which I disputed due to lost tools as result of the break-in. Who does that breaking into a customer's sprinkler room and not informing that they did. I had to catch them on my video. Not only that it took over one year to the work proposed work. TOTAL FRAUD. I will be going to court...."

"Job was done right and efficiently. I purchased their membership for ~$13 a month (1yr commitment) b/c we has just bought a new house and it brought the cost down. Subtracting 1 star b/c with the membership I was sold, I was supposed to receive a free house check, which didn’t happen. Electrician just installed the station and was ready to go. I’ve guy though, and did good work."

"Charged me nearly twice as much as the quoted price, apparently 500+the cost of an outlet is $900, a price that was never said out loud. What a scam. I should have read the reviews. These guys charge an arm and a leg to replace an outlet. Not to mention I never received my receipt, even after emailing them and requesting it be sent."

"Hired them to install a lock-out kit on my circuit breaker panel, an outside outlet to connect my generator, and a power-back alarm. The owner, Chris, arrived on time to do the quote and was very clear and helpful. The installers also were prompt, did an excellent installation, simulated a power outage, and showed my how to switch the whole house over to the generator. "

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Kingsville, MD

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
