"This pro provided useful information via a virtual (online) video consultation. Since this service does not send technicians to the home, they did not do the actual work. I am considering whether to order parts and try to complete the repair myself or under their virtual direction."

"Very well. The repairman checked the washer thoroughly, and determined that we didnt need to replace the motor at this time. We really appreciated his honesty and professionalism. Will definitely call them the next time we need any household appliance repairs."

"I wish I had used these people earlier. I ordered a part for my dryer and was able through their instructional video to fix it myself. Let me tell you I am "mechanically challenged" in just about every way. LOL I may have cut myself through my own stupidity but I did it. it was easy and I did not have to pay a repair man for a simple fix. Thank you so much!"

"when tech showed up the dryer seemed to be working and heating however it did not when I called, seemed the heating element was cracked creating and off and on working condition. I went ahead to repair the problem by purchasing a new heating element. I was surprised however that the tech expected me to pay in full before he ordered the part and repaired the problem, but I did using my credit card knowing if there was a issue the credit card co. would have my back, The part was order and Alex fixed it as soon as it came in and was great"

"The repairman called before he came and arrived within the time window I was given, but things went downhill from there. When I told him that there was no parking on the side of the street where he had parked, he said that he was "willing to roll the dice against the St. Paul police." He replaced the leaking part in about 10 minutes total--my husband had opened up the machine and had sent a photo and video to the company in advance. He did show me the hole and explained that it was most likely caused by a stray sharp object in the machine. But then he handed me the invoice, which he had filled in as follows: "the bellows between drain pump and tub had a hole causing unit to leak replace checked operation checks OK." In fact, he did no "checking" whatsoever. He did not reassemble the machine or hook it back up, and he said that was because my husband had taken it apart. The service call was $170, the part cost $97, and the labor charge was $90--for about 20 minutes total. It seems that if you own an Asko washer that needs service, Thomas Service is your only choice in the Twin Cities, and based on my two experiences with Thomas, I wouldn't buy another Asko."

FAQs for fridge, freezer or ice maker repair or service projects in Lake City, MN

Most ice makers are similar in design, and some parts are interchangeable. However, if your ice maker has advanced filters or special features, it's best to use the same make and model to ensure everything works properly. Ask your appliance repair pro to check your appliance specifications to be sure.

With regular use and proper maintenance, an ice maker typically lasts about four to five years. If you keep up with tasks like changing the filters every six months, you might get up to 10 years out of your ice maker. Address any problems with your ice maker right away by calling an appliance professional to ensure you solve any issues before they escalate, helping to keep your ice maker running smoothly for longer.

Your refrigerator's age plays a big role in deciding whether to repair or replace the ice maker. If your fridge is nearing the end of its average 14-year lifespan, it might not be worth investing in expensive repairs since other parts could fail soon. Getting a diagnosis from a refrigerator repair pro can help you decide what's best.
