"Scott performed an entire home inspection and radon test in addition to contracting a termite specialist to assist in the inspection. The experience was very professional and informative for wife and I as we are purchasing a home for the first time. He provided a package of information that will be useful to us throughout this process, which was very thouightful. I would highly recommend the company to anyone in the market. It doesn't get any better."

"I can't recommend REI highly enough. I called and Frank got my inspection scheduled ASAP and well within my time frame. Pete did a very thorough inspection of the home, checking every system and detail, and answering every question I had. He then provided me with a detailed report within 48 hours, well organized, and included estimate ranges for repairs. If I purchase the property, Pete's report will become a dog-eared reference for years to come. The cost was reasonable for having three inspections (house, termite, radon) of a large, old home. Thank you Pete, Frank, and REI!"

"They did a really good job. We got the results back from post remediation and they were below 4 picos per liter. It was a very good experience. They're very easy to work with, show up on time, got the work done, got the radon level down to where it needs to be."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"Ross was an ideal home inspector and our experience was very smooth working with him. He was not only punctual but was also flexible to accommodate the home owners needs. He went over it thoroughly and educated us for all the impending stuffs for the builders to finish. I would highly recommend him for my friends and neighbors. The inspection reports were sent within 24 hours. We are undergoing the Radon Test this week, so the above review was only for the home inspection, as of now. Regards- Deep"

"Ed Martino was a true professional from the first contact.  He was wonderful to deal with, arrived early on the date of the inspection and even brought snacks for us.  He began his inspection on the outside of the property documenting the basic information for the house and before proceeding inside the house, he put on protective shoe covers to protect the floors.  Ed spent the time necessary to thoroughly evaluate all of the systems of the home - he even let me shadow him, taking the time to explain issues that came up and answer my questions along the way. <br /> Ed mentioned that he would be unable to test the A/C units (4 in all) on the original inspection appointment because the overnight temperature was too cold to safely operate them.  He did however offer to come back to collect his Radon sampling system later in the week and at the end of the day so that the units would have had time to warm up so that he could complete the evaluation for them. <br /> His reports was very detailed and well documented with pictures that illustrated all of the issues that he noted.  The home inspection and radon reports were received in a very timely manner. <br /> He and his report were very informative.  Thank you Ed for a GREAT experience.  <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Lawnside, NJ

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
