"I am a first-time home buyer who was looking to buy in Newark, NJ. I was Hesitant about the foundation walls, heating and electrical systems in the home. Because they are well-regarded as trustworthy a friend of mine, who had previously had issues with her home, suggested I call Quality Home Inspections. When I spoke with the gentleman on the phone (very polite), All my questions were answered in detail and my concerns were alleviated. Quality Home Inspections also provided me with lead and radon inspections. The best part of all was receiving the inspection results in a time efficient manner. They were very professional. I am currently moving forward with purchasing the house and recommending Quality Home Inspections to anyone looking for a great lead/radon home inspection Service."

"Bill was outstanding. When we arrived at the home he had started the inspection on the outside of the home. He conducted a through and fair inspection. When he was done he walked us through the home and showed us the areas that caused concern. The realtors were thrilled with his inspection. My realtor told me that she has dealt with inspectors that will over react to areas that are concerning and scare potential buyers. This was not the case with Bill. Bill provided a comprehensive report with in one business day. My attorney commented that he was very impressed with the inspection."

"Scott from Landmark Inspections performed a home inspection of the home my husband and I are purchasing. We are first time home buyers and this is our first home inspection. We were very impressed with Scott from beginning to end. Before the inspection, he was responsive and communcative, answering every one of our phone calls and emails. The inspection was thorough and Scott and his trainee inspector (also Scott) took the time to answer our questions and explain everything they were doing/finding. The inspection did not feel rushed or like Scott was trying to get through it to move on to the next. The report he sent us (48 hours after the inspection, great turn around time) was very throrough, contained useful information about our future home, and clearly laid out a heirarchy for recommended repairs. We also got a termite inspection, sewer scope inspection (which was also performed incredibly professionally by Melvin from Knox & Knox Solutions), and raydon test. In total, we paid a lot of money for these services, but it was money very well spent. We would not hesitate to recommend Scott, Landmark, and the other service professionals with whom he contracts."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"If you are like me your offer to buy a home was accepted by the seller's and now you're stressed because you have to choose a company to inspect your home. You’re thinking, "Which one of these companies is trust worthy?" "Some have a lot of reviews that are mixed, some have a small amount but they're all good.” “What if they miss something important because I chose the wrong one?” “Which one do I choose???" Stop stressing and just hire JM Property Inspections and go on with your day confident that you are in the best hands. After a bit of searching and stressing I decided to give JM a shot. I am so glad that I did! I left a message and was called back in five minutes! John was incredibly professional and patient over the phone in setting up the appointment. He even had one open the very next Monday! Still, I was worrying, "Did I choose the right company?" When Monday came, Brian, the home inspector, showed up right on time and immediately set to work on the outside of the house taking pictures and explaining in patient detail everything he was seeing and documenting. I could tell from his serious, focused attention that he was fully engaged in the inspection from the moment he set foot on the property. And talk about thorough! He climbed over stuff and moved the previous owners clutter out of the way to get a better look at the things he saw. One of these turned out to be a crack in the foundation that needed watching. The crack was thin, small and could have easily have been missed in the poorly lit basement. However, Brian caught it quickly and explained exactly what needed to be done to make sure it didn't get bigger and cause more of a problem. After he had completed the inspection, Brian stayed another forty-five minutes to discuss everything he saw and answered our many questions. He never gave us the impression we were wasting his time and never once tried to rush us to get the job over with. Brian was committed to making certain we understood everything in detail, no matter if it took five minutes or forty-five minutes. The report we received was extensive and showed the many detailed photos Brian had taken to document his findings. When I did notice one missing item I sent an email and the report was corrected the same day! No waiting, no hassle, no three phone messages and still no call back. Same day. Awesome. In closing, if there’s one thing I love it’s discovering people who are dedicated and devoted to excellence in their craft. Brian, from JM Property Inspections, I just such a person. His attention to detail and insistence that he leave nothing uninspected put me at ease and helped me to really understand the home I was about to move into. Stop worrying about who to call and whether they’ll call you back and whether they’ll do a good job. I already did all that for you! Call John and Brian and you’ll be well taken care of."

"I am a first time home buyer and had been told about Ross through my realtor. I called to just shop around on prices and he gave me tons of information that helped me decide he was the one. “Medium pricing” for excellent work is how I put it. He responded to all my messages promptly, huge bonus since I am out of state! I got to watch all videos of the inspection and he mentioned how to keep up with things and the maintenance on things. I got lucky with a good home but also a great home inspector. We couldn’t do a roof inspection but he flew a drone up there to look at it, how cool! Definitely recommend Ross and will totally go through him in the future if need be. Thank you!!"

"I had him inspect the first property I was under contract for. He arrived on time, had sent me all documents to review the day before, and then proceeded to check every inch of the house. He walked us through every step of the process, gave us estimated lifeexpectancies of the appliances and features of the house, went in the attic, crawl space, did a preliminary check of the fire place, and even walked around the back yard to check out a drainage pipe.it took about 4 days to receive the inspection report. Based on his findings (and the sellers being unwilling to fix anything), we backed out of that contract. When we found another house we loved, we called him again. Once again, he arrived on time. There was a miscommunication along the way (as the house was occupied), and the seller did not expect us at the time. He handled that situation with tact and professionalism. With this inspection, he was just as thorough as before. Again, he walked us through every step so that we understood his findings and made recommendations on certain aspects. He make suggestions on questions to ask the current homeowner and showed us that we have our own transformer from the street, which we didn't know before that. We received the report within two days. Both reports were comprehensive, with the same recommendations for monitoring or repairing any issues, and it was easy to understand. If this contract also falls through, I will absolutely call him again."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Lawrence Township, NJ

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
