"Rob was a good match for us and the work that we needed done. Communication was strong - response was swift, including for at least one accidental phone call. His installation work was 5 / 5. Because he was working in a rail space that had been recently insulated; the project manager also inspected Rob's work to make sure his team did not need to do any follow up repairs. He was very impressed by Rob's workmanship. Rob's mitigation work resulted in a significant reduction in radon levels as measured by our Corentium Home 2 devices from Airthings, this device measures radon/temp/humidity continuously and allows us to monitor levels via the app. if you are concern about radon in your home, I would recommend both Rob from Tri-state, and understanding your long term radon levels using a device such as the Corentium Home 2 device. Below is a snapshot showing the reduction in radon levels in our crawlspace after Rob completed his work. "

"Scott performed an entire home inspection and radon test in addition to contracting a termite specialist to assist in the inspection. The experience was very professional and informative for wife and I as we are purchasing a home for the first time. He provided a package of information that will be useful to us throughout this process, which was very thouightful. I would highly recommend the company to anyone in the market. It doesn't get any better."

"<strong>Scheduling Appointment:</strong> <br /> With the two home inspectors who I used in the past not being available, I came across Real Estate Inspection after spending some quality time with Google. I first spoke to the company president, Woody Watkins. Since I wanted to make sure I hired a good home inspector, I drilled Woody with questions and he was extremely patient and thorough in answering all my questions. He quoted me with a significantly lower price than four other quotes that I got, including the two inspectors who I used in the past. Woody helped alleviate my concerns that the low price would be reflected in the quality of work. <br /> <strong>Inspection Day:</strong> <br /> When my wife and I arrived at the home we were purchasing, the inspector assigned to my appointment, Pete Ciliberto, was already there and had already completed inspecting the roof. He caught us up to speed on what he had found and invited us to follow him around for the remainder of the exterior inspection. Despite the rain, he took his time to check every little thing. <br /> Once inside, he set up his electronic radon detection tool and explained how it worked. He spent over an hour inspecting the basement alone, explaining that he spends a lot of time in the basement since many problems can start in the foundation of the home. He used two really cool tools, an electronic gas detector and a thermal imaging tool, to check for gas and water leaks. His gas detector pinpointed the exact location of a significant gas leak within minutes. He even let us have some fun with the thermal imaging tool when my wife and I were curious what our face prints would look like on the wall. Throughout the <br /> remainder of the inspection, he took his time to inspect everything, took a lot of pictures, and provided us with a lot of helpful information. <br /> <strong>Report:</strong> <br /> I'm not sure what's more impressive… the fact that we got our report less than 24 hours after our inspection, or the quality of the report itself. The first part had a section that detailed what items required immediate action, along with another section with recommended action items. Pictures were provided throughout the document, along with explanations of the issues, how the issues should be fixed, and estimated cost of repair. <br /> <strong>Five Stars:</strong> <br /> Woody, Pete, and their new coordinator Andy, were also all quick to respond to my emails and phone calls. All three were very professional. Their service also included an environmental report and an appliance recall report. We used them for our radon, termite, and home inspection, as well as our re-inspection. <br /> Out of the three inspectors I have used, Real Estate Inspections is, by far, the best one. I have already passed on their information to two other friends searching for homes. They will be the only company I recommend to family and friends going forward. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Lawrence Township, NJ

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
