"Very great company to work with - communication was frequent and professional. Helped not only remove the asbestos (Vermiculite) but also assisted with the paperwork relevant for reimbursement from the ZAI trust. Would highly recommend engaging them for your asbestos needs."

"Arrived on time and was very quick and efficient in removing the asbestos in the timeframe given. Initially only had him abate our attic but had him return to abate our entire living room, hallway, ceilings and some areas in 2 bedrooms. I highly highly recommend Otis and I am continually giving out referrals not only for asbestos but also for renovations. He’s honest, has a great work ethic, very reasonable in cost and goes out of his way to make you happy."

"Basically, what happened was this.... <br /> <strong>Problem:</strong> Refrigerator line had been leaking for god knows how long. Things had been growing back there for so long that it practically had it's own ecosystem. <br /> <strong>Solution:</strong> He collected a sample to determine salvageability of the flooring, insulation, sheetrock and cabinets. He suggested that we set up containment with some sort of HEPA filtration and negative air pressure. I decided we should go with the expert, since I didn't want my family to get sick anymore. <br /> He recommended some great people that removed and replaced all of my damaged areas. <br /> The other bids I got from similar mold remedation were higher and lower. But with all his certifications and experience, I didn't want to chance my family's health. <br /> We haven't had a problem since. I hope I don't ever see him again, because that means we have another leak!!! But if I do, I will certainly call this guy. <br /> <br />"

"I currently have a house under contract, and the home inspector suspected asbestos insulation in the attic.  I had an asbestos inspector from Loflin Environmental out to the property to follow up.  The price of $75 for the inspection and sampling was very reasonable (I had received another quote for $225 for the inspection and sampling).  The inspector was punctual and very professional.  He took the time to answer all of our questions and concerns.  We were very pleased with the service (and the outcome... there had been asbestos insulation on the duct work but it had been removed for the most part - he found a few remaining pieces, which he went ahead and cleared out while he was up there).  We had the formal report within 24 hours of the inspection."

"I was preparing to do some work in my attic and wanted to make sure I took the necessary safety precautions since there is a lot of old insulation (house was built in 1966), debris and dust. I emailed three asbestos companies (consultants and testing labs) asking them whether they do home inspections and testing. Ronald McKee was the only one to respond who confirmed he was a licensed asbestos consultant, did inspections and could test (or at least sub-contract) samples. He gave me pricing for the inspection and cost for each sample. He also asked me to call him to discuss the age of my home and what I was concerned with in my attic. During our call he suggested I send him photos of my attic and anything I was particularly concerned with. I emailed him several pictures and the next day he responded stating that he didn't see anything in the photos that would contain asbestos. <br /> It's refreshing to know there are people out there who aren't trying to make a buck anyway they can and will provide their professional assessment for free. Ronald McKee could have just as easily not asked me for photos, but insist he must come out and perform the inspection in person. <br /> I would call upon Ronald McKee again for asbestos concerns and recommend him to friends."

FAQs for asbestos abatement projects in League City, TX

Asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring mineral fibers once commonly used in building materials because of their resistance to heat, electricity, and corrosion. However, in 1975, research confirmed that these fibers cause mesothelioma and other cancers, leading to strict usage laws. If your home contains asbestos, removing it can prevent long-term health effects. You'll often find asbestos in the flooring, ceilings, pipes, and roofing of homes built before the 1990s. Common asbestos-containing materials include vermiculite insulation, vinyl flooring, millboard, and corrugated roofing. If you suspect you have asbestos or any of these materials in your home, it's important to hire a reputable abatement company to perform testing.

Currently, there is no federal licensing mandate for asbestos removal contractors. However, certain cities and states require certification and specialized training. For example, in some areas, contractors handling asbestos must receive an Asbestos Handler Certification. Be sure to check your local laws to ensure any contractor you hire meets the necessary requirements.

Homes constructed before the 1990s can conceal asbestos within building materials, and testing provides a definitive answer. You should have your home tested by a certified asbestos inspection service. This professional evaluation identifies hazardous materials and determines whether removal or encapsulation is necessary. Testing safeguards your family’s health and supports smart budgeting for remediation.

Federal law does not require you to disclose the presence of asbestos when selling your home. However, certain states and local jurisdictions impose disclosure regulations that you must follow. Testing and professional remediation confirm that hazardous materials are properly managed. This proactive approach not only meets legal requirements but also protects your property’s value and buyer health.

Asbestos removal affects a home’s resale value because hazardous materials can deter potential buyers. Having toxic substances present lowers buyer confidence and may reduce the property’s value by 1% to 15% if not addressed. Professional remediation ensures safety standards are met and preserves marketability, protecting your long-term investment.

Grants exist at both federal and state levels to support asbestos testing and removal projects. Local housing programs may also offer financial assistance when asbestos is discovered during home repairs. Meeting certification and testing standards is required to secure these funds, which help to manage overall project costs while ensuring safe remediation.
