Customers say: Quick response

"Five hours total. Everybody had a job and knew when to do it. Graded, disposed dirt and old gravel, added three inches of asphalt. Had to keep off of it for 24 hours and keep the cars off for two days. Still pleased two weeks later! We had two comparable quotes. Either one could have done the job well, but my husband chose Bloomington SEal Coat because they could get to the job sooner."

"I have hired him three times after the initial installer of my driveway screwed up pavement and would not honor his work. He always used the best materials and took care to fill cracks all the way. One very deep crack required numerous filling before it was full. Some contractors would hit it quickly or fill it with backer rod and then give it a quick coat. The cracks need to be properly sealed in order to keep water from destroying drive is what he told us. The top coating is cosmetic but the crack seal is what is needed. We have recommended him to all who want a drive sealed he also installs new drives and repairs asphalt."

"I contacted Sure Seal Restorations for an inspection on my home for storm damage from a storm that happened last summer. They came out to do the inspection the same day! Jason and Derek were very professional as they helped me through the insurance claims process and were able to get me a new roof, gutters, gutter guards, and siding. The workers were also very professional during the installation and did an awesome job making sure all of the trash was collected before they left. I have already recommended them to my neighbors and will highly recommend them in the future."

"When we decided to pave our 350’ gravel driveway with asphalt, we did a lot of on-line research. We learned that a long-lasting drive should have a well-compacted 3” crushed-stone subbase, a 3” asphalt base layer, and a 1” asphalt top layer, with no recycled material in the asphalt mix. We were also able to estimate a fair cost. Next, we researched all the residential paving companies working in Monroe County, and contacted two Angie’s List top-rated pavers headquartered here in Bloomington. One sent out a slick estimator who told us all we needed was to move the gravel we had around a little and pave over it with a single 4” asphalt layer of top-coat material. He came up with a cost that was 50% more than we had estimated for our original, far more-comprehensive specifications. Our voice-mail message to the second paver was never returned. After more research, we selected Arthur Paving & Excavating of Bedford. A family-owned operation, they’ve been serving Lawrence Co. and the surrounding area for over 30 years. Their Better Business Bureau overview rating was A+, and they were members of the Bedford Chamber of Commerce. They also had an informative website and Facebook page, and we found no bad reviews. A few days after speaking on the phone with Jeff Arthur, he came out and listened to what we wanted done. He then came up with a price that was in line with our own cost estimate. About two weeks later, Jeff and his crew arrived and worked diligently, efficiently, and very neatly. They were all friendly and very competent. In short, we’re most pleased with the appearance and quality of our newly paved driveway and highly recommend Arthur Paving."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Linton, IN

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
