"Mr. Wesley backed into several projects, finished out a deck, built and installed kitchen cabinets, replaced flooring in bathroom - removing and replacing vanity and commode and replacing faucet, installed flooring, installed hallway floors and door trim. He and his crew are professional, caring and get the job done. He communicates well. His bid was in between two others and he reasoned through each part of the project with me. He provided a formal bid and a signed contract, which he fulfilled. I will hire him again."

"Cabinet Gems owner Jim Scroggin is a craftsman of exquisite talent, and he builds cabinets like Michelangelo painted ceilings. Not only does my kitchen look absolutely beautiful, but the wood is top quality, the carefully applied finishes are tested and perfect, the design is thoroughly thought-through. I received preliminary and finished drawings so I knew from day to day what decisions were being made and had a chance to ask questions or offer preferences on every drawer, ever shelf, every cabinet, every pantry, the trim, the bay shoe---every detail is handled carefully, thoroughly, and with a result not often seen in this century. The drawers open and close like silk, every door and drawer are perfectly aligned--I just can't praise the work or the outcome enough. I knew what I wanted, but Mr. Scroggin refined my ideas, added touches that improved the outcome, and was invaluable to work with. <br /> Also, Cabinet Gems followed the progress so that all the complementary finishes--floors, backsplashes, countertops-- and related work such as electrical wiring and plumbing were installed in such a way that the cabinets remain pristine and the other workmen have the easiest time doing a good job. He makes sure it all comes together for a quality installation. This was a massive job in an 80-year-old house and it was a challenge. <br /> I am interested in using them again, because Cabinet Gems also offers remodeling work on cabinets of all kinds--kitchen, of course, but also built-ins in all rooms: entertainment centers, bookcases, game rooms, china cabinets, etc. I understand they perform commercial work in businesses and office buildings, too. <br /> I'm happy because I have a new kitchen that came in at a better price and higher quality than I ever expected. I know the craftsmanship is high quality and will hold up well and look great for many, many years. <br />"

"Fran and Michael Lanari came to our home to assess bathroom and take measurements.  Discussed options and style design at that time.  Once they had all their figures/ideas in place we went to their business to discuss details.  Fran had selected combinations of tile, stone, glasswork, colors.  We selected the plumbing fixtures, vanity, etc at this time.  They were extremely knowledgeable with the design aspect and had a good idea of the style we were looking for.  The workers (Samson Birch and his crew) were very professional and knowledgeable in what they were doing.  Samson gave us suggestions on placement of several items with explanation of why it would be better one way versus the other way.  Workers came ready to work. The bathroom was gutted, tile shower with stone flooring and a "waterfall" design with glass tiles were installed after prep work, shower bar and corner shelves were installed. Shower fixtures, vanity fixtures, automatic fan installed.  New high vanity installed, framed mirror, toilet, shower doors, tile flooring, above toilet cabinet.  The bathroom looks bigger and I have plenty of storage.  We were extremely satisfied and would definitely use them again. <br />"

"Ana and her team really ran with the ball on this one. She transformed our home into what we had dreamt of. I’m so satisfied with her work we’ve hired her to handle certain aspects of our 2 retail remodels. Couldn’t have asked for better service!"

"Contract with him signed on August 15, 2019, supplies ordered and installed on 9-5 where he could fit us in before leaving for a reunion and a vacation. The backsplash was the largest problem as it was made in 2 pieces and when he installed it there was a large gap that he knew was there when he completed the work. When he took our final check he offered no solution to the problem. The second problem was the counter had four vertical cuts that showed seams. Those seams were supposed to be covered with the gem loc and was not done. The two angle cuts in our U shaped counter was off a bit as the one side gap is larger than the other. His caulking work was not done well and needs to be redone. We emailed him that evening (9-5) and told him that we are disappointed with the work. Did not hear from him again on 9-10. This time he said he would order the materials. By 9-23 we asked when are you coming. He said he was still waiting on the gem loc. Still no response by 10-4 so I emailed him and said not to bother. He quickly said he had the materials and could make the changes but only after I said to forget it. He should have responded sooner with a real interest to fix the problems or better yet he should have taken more time to do it right the first time and not try to fit us in before his vacations."

"Mike was the type person that you would like to have as a friend. He was very friendly and very professional. Micheal was Bussiness and cared about the happiness of the customer.. He had alot of patch work to do and some was added to the job, Which he was very happy to do for my Mom. The quility of his workmanship was really good. He taped off all the wood crown molding in several rooms and put all the covers back on the switches and offered to move all the furniture out and back where it went.. I have found myself very impressed with Micheals work and the price and the workmanship. With over 15000,00 dollors worth of cabinets there was not one speck off paint on them.. I can not say enough of how pleased i am with his work.. I am even going to get him to paint the interior of my home as i hate to paint... THANK YOU MICHEAL FOR THE GREAT JOB YOU DID........... <br />"

"My husband decided to take on the challenge of doing this job ourselves, so we won't be using this company this time. But I was very positively impressed with the prompt responses and good attitude of Eric Matthews. Another contractor that came out to give me an estimate (with good ratings on Angie's List) hasn't even gotten back to me yet. Eric Matthews emailed my estimate the same day that he came out. He was flexible with the amount of work we could do, and was willing to do things like reuse wood that was still good. I thought his estimate was fair. I would recommend to anyone needing work done that you call Eric!"

"After working with Lewis and Co., it is plain to see that they care about helping the customer, not about getting as much money as possible from the customer. <br /> When Mr. Lewis from Lewis and Co. came by to give me an estimate, he was prompt, professional, and knowledgable. He offered good advice on what I could do with the kitchen to improve it and ways save money (i.e. he suggested we work directly with a flooring warehouse to have our flooring installed instead of having Lewis and Co install it). We had had trouble finding a good countertop dealer in Little Rock, but Mr. Lewis was able to pick up the countertops for us from a countertop manufacturer, saving us time and hassle by cutting out the middle man (i.e. a separate countertop store). I received my easy-to-understand estimate in a reasonable amount of time via email (receiving the estimate via email was very convenient for me). Also, as my kitchen plans changed, I needed to change the estimate - Lewis and Co. had no problem with this, and emailed me new estimates in a reasonable amount of time. When Lewis and Co. arrived in February to install our countertops, they arrived on time and worked efficiently. As a matter of fact, we are also going to have them install new baseboards later in March. <br /> Thank you Lewis and Co.! <br />"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Little Rock, AR

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
