"JUST WOW! AWESOME! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU VANDERHOOF ROOFING COMPANY FOR EXEMPLARY WORK! After a 6 year wait to 'get to the roof'... (Oye vay, our house had needed a lot of work, so we did the inside, and landscaping first.. while the roof waited patiently) This month we FINALLY scheduled to have our - very old, badly maintained, bondoed.. duct taped.. (from WAY back) ..mess of a flat roof ... TOTALLY FIXED! We interviewed 3 companies and went with VANDERHOOF. It turned out to be one of the best decisions we have made since moving to the area. Vanderhoof came in with a swat team of capable roofers, and worked like a band of Army Engineers. They tore off DECADES of badly done roof work, layer after layer after layer. (What a mess of construction debris!) At the end of every work day, they left our yard immaculate. Then they built, and built, and restructured, and redesigned. (Flat roofs need expert attention). The work took a bit longer than they estimated due to the amazing number of layers to be removed, and their painstaking rebuilding process - but the Syracuse weather cooperated *(!!) and the work finished yesterday and it looks fantastic! (Photo shows NEW SPECTACULAR FLAT ROOF! Later I'll dig out the original roof.. it looked like a moonscape of bulbous waves and misguided historic attempts to mesh a labyrinth of disconnected ill selected materials. (We inherited it in 2016. ) I can't recommend Vanderhoof highly enough."

"We worked with Jayson, who was the project manager, and Tyler who was the site manager.  Can't say enough in praise of these guys.  Punctual, responsive, easy to work with, and fine attention to detail.  They aren't happy until you're happy.   <br /> There were three subs on this job.  The excavator was fantastic.  Amazingly neat and orderly for a heavy equipment operator and left the place spotless. He even showed up on a Sunday when he saw a break in the weather.  Really nice guy. The electrician also kept the work site clean, neat, and orderly and even stayed until 8PM one evening to make up for time lost after a component had been unavailable.  Also a very pleasant guy. The only negative was the gutter installer.  They showed up in force with uniforms and trucks with their logo?..all looks, but no performance.  They slammed up the gutters and were out of there in under four hours.  It was apparent that they hadn't used this type of gutter material often.  Their attention to detail was poor, the gutters had hand prints all over them, they used mis-matched screws, bent nails over, and some of the down pipes were not plumb.  The good news is that Jayson and Tyler were on it.  They responded immediately and after pointing out the problems, they had the installers back in to make the corrections and wipe them all down.  If McClurg uses these guys again, I would recommend that they keep their manager onsite to keep an eye on these monkeys. Some of the mis-matched screws remained, but Tyler gave up on the gutter contractors and corrected them himself. Jayson did a final walk through and went over the job in detail.  The electrician also made sure that I understood how the system worked and went over the operation with me.  <br /> The price can be summed up in one word: expensive.  McClurg has a reputation for being high priced and they did not disappoint. Their mark-up is 30%,  much higher than most contractors I have worked with, but you are paying for their professionalism.  They are on time, they keep you informed, they respond to your questions and concerns, they follow-up and they guarantee  the work.  You get what you pay for, and I was not willing to take a chance on another sketchy outfit here in central New York.  Sad to say but there just are not a lot of reputable guys out there who stand behind their work.  I will definitely use them again. <br />"

"David was very thorough during estimate, asking questions and giving advice about many areas of concern after foundation was damaged by many years of water issues. He prioritized items that were most important. Workers were prompt and friendly, even careful with my two young children around the house, sharing ice cream with them during a lunch break. David took pictures took the chimney so I could see what was being done close up. Job looks good and site was cleaned up throughly, including a repair of an accidentally broken window without a complaint. We'd definitely use again. <br />"

"They arrived on time, and did a great job installing the liner and replacing the cap. But they did not replace the cracked bricks at the top of the chimney like the salesman told me they would, I was given a **** and bull story about how the cracks would continue down the chimney if they tried to replace them, this makes no sense what so ever. They didn't seal the chimney either, when I asked them about it they said they did it, but the chimney was dry and the color hadn't darkened like it would if it were just sealed. Also they left a mess on my roof which is very visible. Would not hire this company again!!!"

"Outstanding workmanship and attention to detail, 5 stars! It was clear from the get-go that the owner Phil takes a great deal of pride in his work, and has a remarkable blend of knowledge and expertise and great work ethic. He and his assistant completed this project on schedule and with no cost overruns. They were extremely courteous and willing to address our questions. Phil also took the time to call a few different suppliers to get us the best pricing on our custom-sized chimney cap. We were referred to Phil by our roofer as well as staff at 2 masonry supply shops who gave glowing recommendations. Second recommendation was unsolicited and came after work was already in progress. We were selecting bricks for the project and asked the salesperson (who we had randomly selected) how well they would hold up to Syracuse weather. He said it all depended on the install. I stated we were having a contractor do the work, and he started sharing shoddy workmanship horror stories. At that point I mentioned Phil's name, and he immediately stopped and said we'd have no worries. Said he was in the process of recommending Phil for a family member! We recommend CNY Chimney highly to anyone who wants a quality job done right the first time!"
