"I initially called for an irrigation estimate. Pedro/Peter was on time for our first appointment and was professional, polite, and pleasant. While discussing what I needed for the irrigation project, he noticed an overly wet spot in the lawn. He correctly identified the problem as a leak in the main line and, although he said it was probably going to be on my side and my responsibility to repair rather DWP's, he advised me to first contact them anyway to confirm before paying him to start working on it. That engendered a feeling of trust that he wasn't trying to rip me off. Plus I immediately knew he was correct because my tenant had complained of unusually high water bills. He and his brother Frank came the next day and fixed the problem at a very reasonable fee. They worked efficiently and quickly and cleaned up nicely afterwards. They installed my irrigation system satisfactorily and planted plants for me that I purchased from a great nursery recommended by Peter. Also, I had wanted sod but Peter advised me to just aerate the existing lawn (which was very beaten up by the previous tenant), fertilize and reseed in order to stay within my budget. Turns out he was right and my lawn has greened up nicely. Peter and Frank are just plain nice guys and good human beings as well as reliable and trustworthy. I am still an ongoing customer as they now take care of my lawn on their gardening route. I would highly recommend them to anyone."

"I have a small backyard that needed sprinklers, grass, and some plants to bring it to life. For more than a year I had been applying Round up weed killer to kill any grass weeds etc. I was remodeling the inside of the house and was waiting for it to be finished before starting on the outside.  <br /> <br /> After getting 4 bids for the project which were all around the same cost except for one ( Finley's - 3 times more than the others)  I picked SB Landscaping.  Wonderful Company to work with. So helpful in planning, and their work is outstanding. Very organized from start to finish. You get the feeling from the start these guys know what they're doing. <br /> <br /> They started out by tilling the soil , then laying out the pipe for the sprinklers, added the correct amount of valves for lawn and planters. "Update: my previous remarks still stand, but I felt an update was necessary. I contacted Alford's for a refresh of our landscaping as well as to make some repairs to our hardscape that they installed. We had a large crack forming in our seat wall and needed it repaired, as well as some separation in our pavers. A member of her team told me that they no longer perform any maintenance work on past clients' work and are a landscaping installation company only. They also would not give any referrals for other companies.  This was disappointing, especially because we were so happy initially with their work.  <br /> <br /> However, after I updated my review last week, Kathy did reach out to me and apologize for the lack of communication, and offered to send her team out to fix the crack in our seat wall as well as replace our Japanese maple that had died. She sent someone out the next day to make the needed repairs and had them clean up our yard a bit as well. The gesture was much appreciated, and although she was not able to make any referrals for maintenance work, I was thankful for the fix that was offered.  <br /> <br /> We moved into a new construction neighborhood and were going from dirt and weeds to a completely new yard. We met with several companies, both landscaping and paver companies, and we were most impressed overall with Alford's. Kathy, the owner, is very knowledgeable about plants, and has her own microgarden at her office location in Long Beach that we were able to visit and select our plant palette from. Of the several companies we met with, Kathy cared the most about the plant selection and was most thoughtful in her design ideas and landscape, which I appreciated. We ended up spending more than we had anticipated, but we believe the end result we received was worth it.  <br />  Kathy, Miguel and their team did a great job and performed work as described. They even made a few improvements to the design as it went in, reassessing as things moved along and touching base with us about the changes. We have received many compliments from our neighbors and we are very happy with the end result. I would definitely recommend Alford's in the future."
