"Well we were going to do a ground mount using re-purposed
metal, but there was not enough of it. So Renewable Engineered Systems designed
a system for the roof of the house. We Worked with Brian Brown who helped us
decide what to use.   The solar panel
system is very neat. Get to watch my power everyday.

"We used this company a few years ago to install several solar panels on our roof. We're very happy with the work and our energy bill. It was a smooth process and I would recommend them. We've even hired them to install more."

"I was very impressed with the installer who was sent. He mounted the dish without drilling through my new roof, which might have voided my roof warranty, Also, he mounted the dish in a location where it is easy for me to brush the snow off it in winter. I appreciate his knowledge and thoughtfulness. Also, they didn't charge me to re-install the dish."

"Called and setup an appointment, they explained their pricing which was very reasonable. They called when they said they would, and arrived when they said they would. Very friendly, likable and professional. Explained everything as they went, what they found, what they did to fix the problem, etc. They also provided a written quote for additional remodel work that we may have them do in the future. Overall a very good experience. Would recommend them."

I had bought an Angie's deal from Handy Helpers, paying $99 for the work of 1 person for 4 hours or the work of 2 people for 2 hours. The owner, Jonathan Katz, had worked with me in trying to get a date when the weather would cooperate for the work and he was flexible in working with me around my work schedule and other obligations. He came out about 1 week before the work was done and I showed him what I needed done. He made recommendations as to material. He was the one who actually noticed that there was a corner of the patio where the soil had been washed away and was probably the cause of slight sinking of the patio where it meets the house foundation. He recommended a fix for that, which I agreed to. He advised me as to the type of caulking I needed and said he would get the concrete for the repair of the foundation since he knew what product would work best. Jonathan and Chris showed up at the appointment time on the day of the work. Jonathan said that Chris would install the French drain while he took care of another small job elsewhere. Chris did a super job with the drain and hooked the downspout into the new drain so I wouldn't have drainage hose running on top of the group. I found out that Chris had only worked for Jonathan for 4 days but that he had done landscape work when living in Florida. Chris tested the drain, put the landscape fabric back down, and raked the rocks back onto the fabric. He did an excellent job of cleaning up. As a bonus, Jonathan brought a hosta that looked like it had been separated from a larger hosta and Chris planted it at the corner of the patio and house to absorb any water in the area. It seemed that Jonathan's job took longer because Chris finished before Jonathan returned so I think there was some downtime. Jonathan caulked around the joints between the brick and siding while Chris removed the old caulk around the patio door and replaced it. Chris also caulked the joints between the concrete around the house and the foundation. Chris also patched the cracks in my foundation, which was very time intensive. The foundation looks so much better and I think is in better condition because Chris did such an outstanding job filling in the cracks. Chris started work at 9:00AM and finished around 7:00PM. He took a short lunch break and a few breaks while working but worked steadily. He did a nice job of cleaning up .

I would hire Jonathan and Chris again for their workmanship. The only criticism I have of Handy Helpers is their business side of the business. I didn't receive a detailed proposal of the work from Jonathan (I'm partly to blame for not insisting on one) but we did go through the details of the work to be done verbally. Next time, I will insist on a written proposal. I knew that the work was going to exceed the $99 deal I had already paid for. Jonathan provided me an email of the amount over the $99 I owed but I really couldn't match it to a proposal. Like I said, my bad for not insisting on a written proposal. I did a few calculations and determined that the additional amount over the $99 was reasonable, especially since I had observed how hard Chris worked to do a good job.

I think Jonathan and Chris are both talented workmen. Hopefully, Jonathan will perfect the business side so that people have a written proposal to compare with actual costs because I think he does a good job.

FAQs for solar panel installation projects in Louisville, KY

A single Tesla Powerwall provides backup power for essential home circuits for approximately one day during an outage. This duration varies significantly based on which appliances and systems you're powering. Critical loads like refrigeration, limited lighting, internet equipment, and a few outlets might draw two to five kWh daily. With 13.5 kWh of usable capacity, careful energy management is necessary for extended outages unless you have solar panels to recharge during daylight hours.

A Tesla Powerwall can power most residential air conditioners, as its 5.8 kW continuous output handles the three to four kW requirement of standard AC units. However, running air conditioning substantially increases energy consumption, potentially depleting a single Powerwall within several hours. For meaningful climate control during extended outages, multiple Powerwall units are recommended. Solar panel integration helps replenish the batteries during daylight hours, extending your cooling capabilities.

Tesla Powerwalls qualify for the federal Residential Clean Energy Credit, which offers a 30% tax credit through 2032, followed by 26% in 2033 and 23% in 2034. This represents a tax credit (direct reduction of tax liability) rather than a deduction. To qualify, the system must be charged primarily from renewable energy sources. Additionally, many states and utilities offer supplemental incentives that further reduce effective costs. Consult with a tax professional regarding your specific eligibility and filing requirements.

Unlike conventional generators that require fuel, maintenance, and produce noise and emissions, Tesla Powerwalls operate silently and automatically without ongoing fuel costs. While generators can run indefinitely with refueling, Powerwalls have capacity limitations unless paired with solar recharging. Traditional generators cost less initially but require regular maintenance, testing, and fuel storage. Powerwalls offer additional daily benefits through energy bill management and smart home integration features that generators cannot provide, making them multifunctional investments beyond emergency backup.

Tesla Powerwall systems require minimal ongoing maintenance compared to other backup power solutions. Unlike generators with moving components requiring regular servicing, Powerwalls function virtually without mechanical intervention. The manufacturer recommends keeping the unit's surroundings clean and ensuring proper ventilation. For systems paired with solar panels, periodic panel cleaning (costing between $295 and $625) helps maintain optimal charging efficiency. The system conducts automatic self-diagnostics and receives software updates remotely, with most potential issues identified and addressed through Tesla's monitoring capabilities.
