"Really good! Punctual! Final bill was almost $50 less than originally quoted. Called me 15 minutes after I requested a quote from him. The other company never called me or contacted me."

"I arranged an appointment for Lee to come to our home on a Saturday and fix what I assumed to be some kind of electrical short. After a look over of our problem, he explained that he could do some work, but it would be needless and would have cost us money needlessly. He charged us nothing. I appreciated his honesty and integrity, and I will call Master Lee's when I have any future electrical needs."

"They showed up on time/early, did a thorough job - including instaling an electrical box the builder should have installed.  They cleaned up after themselves and even hauled our old light fixtures off at our request.  The price was half what we expected to pay based on other companies we used.  We couldn't be happier and plan to have them come back for other projects.

"Jody emailed me immediately after I submitted the request. He worked with my schedule to do the work as soon as possible. He was here on time and worked quickly. He installed 2 motion lights and replaced a porch light. He also determined why an outside outlet didn't work and fixed it. I was very impressed with his skills and knowledge. I really enjoyed getting to know him and will definitely call him with any electrical issues that I might have."

"Was referred to chad from a friend, he was very helpful on what I needed to know and also discussed my roof age and the scenarios of waiting to re roof in 2 years or doing it with the solar. I have yet to get a utility bill and my connection fee is zero due to the credits I build up. Anyone thinking got going solar to save $ reach out to chad. Excellent experience."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Lubbock, TX

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
