"These guys are stellar. My deck was in disrepair and I was uncertain what to do with it - whether to totally knock it down and start anew, or to build on the existing foundation. Also what material to use - composite, wood, etc. They came out, looked at my deck, gave recommendations, and worked within my budget. We went with cedar, and within two weeks, I had an absolutely beautiful new deck, built on the existing foundation. I was very pleased with the whole interaction - they were courteous and professional, friendly and hard-working, arriving early and working through the day to get the job done. It was for me an exceedingly good experience with a contractor, and their work is solid. I was nervous as a first time home owner to hire a contractor, for fear of not knowing enough and being taken. I had spoken with several other general contractors and also specific deck builders prior to hiring Modern Exteriors, and each could have built a deck. One larger company offered a lower price but when they came out, the materials they suggested would have been sub-par and the deck would have been plastic-looking. These guys are a smaller business that build decks for a living, and are very good at it and clearly enjoy each project - like works of art. I highly recommend them."

"After I met Stuart, the owner of Summit painting, I knew I wanted to hire him for my painting needs. He was very professional, knowledgeable, competent in his line of work and just a really likeable guy. I was very comfortable with him and knew it would be a good fit. "Jeramie is an expert in the craft of laying tile. He make sure everything is shimmed to be perfectly parallel, perpendicular, and plum. He identified a leak problem around my bathtub die to grout cracking. He carefully chiseled out the grout that should not have been at the tub/wall, or the tub / floor junction, cleaned everything up and replaced with beautifully done caulking. He figured out why my tub seemed to be leaking water to one corner. It was not level. He saw that the glass doors were not parallel to the wall because the wall was not square. He found the tiling had been done on drywall not cement board and had swelled because of multiple cracks in the grout. He replaced the damaged dry board next to the tile, checked the plumbing to the tub and sealed it up again with meticulous plastering and smoothing, painting. He had to cut a new piece of tile from a 12 x 12, the only thing I had, to finish the job. Skylight water damage: he and Kevin removed a huge piece of drywall from the well of a 4 x 4 skylight that had leaked. It looks as though it never happened now. They worked with my family member who lived in the house navigating their complicated work schedules, would come at the time appointed, whether early or late, work very professionally, and respectfully. Jeramie presents his clear itemized work and cost plan, which is carefully written out day by day what would be done. This is a very professional worker who goes far beyond being a Tile expert. I will engage them now to repair my front porch in a 1905 house, because they are good carpenters as well. They know about plumbing issues and bathroom, remodels, and spontaneously agreed to take on cutting a hole in granite to place a Vessel sink in an unrelated, unlisted project.they work with care, stay as long as it takes to do the job right. "I guess I caught them on them on a bad day. 90% of the job was good, there was a couple of areas that to my view was just sloppy. Josh did come back twice to correct the areas of concern. He was mostly prompt and polite in answering my emails, though one day I stayed home because I was told he would show up, but did not, nor did he let me know he was held up. Clean up was so-so, they used an air blower, there was metal trimmings left on the deck, not good for the dogs. For me there was too much aggravation to hire them again."

When the company came out to quote the project, they took as much time as needed to explain the job they planned to do, go over options and decision points, and answer all questions we had. We had a quote before they left the property. The quote itself, although not the cheapest we got, was competitive with the other quotes we received. Once agreed upon, the job was scheduled quickly. The crew was extremely professional. They showed up on time and were respectful of the property and our requests. During the job, it was found some additional repairs were needed due to water ingress from prior roof failures. The additional scope was explained well, handled gracefully and transparently. All repairs were done correctly and professionally and match the aesthetic of the house. After completion, the crew did a great job of cleaning up the job.
