"5 Stars – Exceptional Craftsmanship and Service from Ray Long at L&L Construction I can’t say enough good things about Ray Long and L&L Construction. Ray recently completed a 20'x12' deck off the back of our house, and the entire experience—from initial planning to final screw—was outstanding. He recommended Azek decking, and we’re so glad we followed his advice. The materials are beautiful, durable, and perfect for our space. The finished deck includes a full wrap around smooth top railing, 3-foot stairs off the side, and 5-foot stairs off the front. Ray also removed a large window facing the new deck and installed 48" french doors that open onto the deck. He carefully redid the surrounding siding and adeptly handled dry rot and structural issues from an unlevel, unplumb house with skill and expertise. What really stood out was Ray’s high attention to detail and how it felt like he was building the deck as if it were his own home. Every part of the project was done with care, precision, and pride. Ray was also extremely patient as we went through multiple redesigns to try to stay within budget without compromising quality or our vision. He offered honest recommendations and never pushed unnecessary extras—just smart solutions from years of experience. "These guys are stellar. My deck was in disrepair and I was uncertain what to do with it - whether to totally knock it down and start anew, or to build on the existing foundation. Also what material to use - composite, wood, etc. They came out, looked at my deck, gave recommendations, and worked within my budget. We went with cedar, and within two weeks, I had an absolutely beautiful new deck, built on the existing foundation. I was very pleased with the whole interaction - they were courteous and professional, friendly and hard-working, arriving early and working through the day to get the job done. It was for me an exceedingly good experience with a contractor, and their work is solid. I was nervous as a first time home owner to hire a contractor, for fear of not knowing enough and being taken. I had spoken with several other general contractors and also specific deck builders prior to hiring Modern Exteriors, and each could have built a deck. One larger company offered a lower price but when they came out, the materials they suggested would have been sub-par and the deck would have been plastic-looking. "Jeramie is an expert in the craft of laying tile. He make sure everything is shimmed to be perfectly parallel, perpendicular, and plum. He identified a leak problem around my bathtub die to grout cracking. He carefully chiseled out the grout that should not have been at the tub/wall, or the tub / floor junction, cleaned everything up and replaced with beautifully done caulking. He figured out why my tub seemed to be leaking water to one corner. It was not level. He saw that the glass doors were not parallel to the wall because the wall was not square. He found the tiling had been done on drywall not cement board and had swelled because of multiple cracks in the grout. He replaced the damaged dry board next to the tile, checked the plumbing to the tub and sealed it up again with meticulous plastering and smoothing, painting. He had to cut a new piece of tile from a 12 x 12, the only thing I had, to finish the job. Skylight water damage: he and Kevin removed a huge piece of drywall from the well of a 4 x 4 skylight that had leaked. It looks as though it never happened now. They worked with my family member who lived in the house navigating their complicated work schedules, would come at the time appointed, whether early or late, work very professionally, and respectfully. Jeramie presents his clear itemized work and cost plan, which is carefully written out day by day what would be done. This is a very professional worker who goes far beyond being a Tile expert. I will engage them now to repair my front porch in a 1905 house, because they are good carpenters as well. They know about plumbing issues and bathroom, remodels, and spontaneously agreed to take on cutting a hole in granite to place a Vessel sink in an unrelated, unlisted project.they work with care, stay as long as it takes to do the job right.
