"I ordered an inspection $80 to be waived if this company did the work. The inspector was very knowledgeable. A report arrived promptly by U.S. Mail as requested. I scheduled the work, but the forecast was for rain, so I called to reschedule. (Water collects under my house in a storm and I didn't want subterranean work done due to risk of injury/presence of water.) There was a lot of push back on this, but the job was later rescheduled. Ole came out and did an excellent job of taking care of the termites. The inspector alerted me to the presence of a rat living in my attic--this was much appreciated and I called an exterminator. Ole reattached my clothes dryer vent, which runs underneath my house. That was also appreciated. His impromptu inspection of my foundation wasn't warranted, in my opinion, as I don't know his qualifications for that type of work."

"I have a small backyard that needed sprinklers, grass, and some plants to bring it to life. For more than a year I had been applying Round up weed killer to kill any grass weeds etc. I was remodeling the inside of the house and was waiting for it to be finished before starting on the outside.  <br /> <br /> After getting 4 bids for the project which were all around the same cost except for one ( Finley's - 3 times more than the others)  I picked SB Landscaping.  Wonderful Company to work with. So helpful in planning, and their work is outstanding. Very organized from start to finish. You get the feeling from the start these guys know what they're doing. <br /> <br /> They started out by tilling the soil , then laying out the pipe for the sprinklers, added the correct amount of valves for lawn and planters. Added the bender board, planted the plants, placed the sod.  I'm sure I skipped a couple of steps. Lot of work.  I am so thrilled with my new  backyard! It looks beautiful. <br /> <br /> Please don't hesitate to hire this wonderful company. They are great! Reasonable, and work very hard to make it all happen. <br /> From super large projects to smaller ones like mine. SB Landscaping can do it all. Now on to the front yard landcaping!  Hire them! "Update: my previous remarks still stand, but I felt an update was necessary. I contacted Alford's for a refresh of our landscaping as well as to make some repairs to our hardscape that they installed. We had a large crack forming in our seat wall and needed it repaired, as well as some separation in our pavers. A member of her team told me that they no longer perform any maintenance work on past clients' work and are a landscaping installation company only. They also would not give any referrals for other companies.  This was disappointing, especially because we were so happy initially with their work.  <br /> <br /> However, after I updated my review last week, Kathy did reach out to me and apologize for the lack of communication, and offered to send her team out to fix the crack in our seat wall as well as replace our Japanese maple that had died. She sent someone out the next day to make the needed repairs and had them clean up our yard a bit as well. The gesture was much appreciated, and although she was not able to make any referrals for maintenance work, I was thankful for the fix that was offered.  <br /> <br /> We moved into a new construction neighborhood and were going from dirt and weeds to a completely new yard. We met with several companies, both landscaping and paver companies, and we were most impressed overall with Alford's. Kathy, the owner, is very knowledgeable about plants, and has her own microgarden at her office location in Long Beach that we were able to visit and select our plant palette from. Of the several companies we met with, Kathy cared the most about the plant selection and was most thoughtful in her design ideas and landscape, which I appreciated. We ended up spending more than we had anticipated, but we believe the end result we received was worth it.  <br />  Kathy, Miguel and their team did a great job and performed work as described. They even made a few improvements to the design as it went in, reassessing as things moved along and touching base with us about the changes. We have received many compliments from our neighbors and we are very happy with the end result. I would definitely recommend Alford's in the future."

"Jay & Janus Pest Management is fantastic!   We recently moved into our 1931 spanish style home and found we had many spiders both inside & outside the house.  We picked them based on their excellent reviews and service award on Angie's list.   <br /> Jay & Janus Pest Management have truly exceeded the excellent reviews they've received on Angie's list!   <br /> We first met Jay in July of 2011.  Like other satisfied Angie's List members, I called for a quote and was happy to receive a quick response from the owner of the company Jay himself.  Jay was very personable and made himself available to meet right away the following Saturday morning since both my husband and I work.  Jay sprayed for pests (including spiders) both inside & outside our home.  Jay also inspected our home for rodents in the attic and below the house.  Jay found and removed a very old rodent carcus on his first visit.  He also indicated possible points of entry for the attic and below the house.  Jay set traps in the attic and below the house.  On his next visit, Jay removed a recently trapped rodent from below the house.  Jay and his associate Michael continued to monitor the rodent problem weekly for the next several weeks.  They diagnosed the problem and shored up the entry points with wire screens to prevent further rodents from entering.  Michael even squeezed himself into an extremely tiny crawl space in our attic to secure one of the wire screens.  Jay & Michael were extremely personable, professional, prompt (often arriving early), efficient, honest, and responsive to our needs.  They also routinely sprayed for pests especially all the various spiders we'd been finding both inside & outside our home.  It made a huge difference in our quality of life and got rid of both the spiders and rodents invading our home.  We are extremely pleased with their service and have already highly recommended them to two of our friends.  We continue to use their services to this day to maintain pest & rodent control.  We are now using them to help trap a pesky raccoon that is tearing up our lawn.  Jay, Michael, and Janus Pest Management is an excellent company that gives fantastic service and pest control while also giving you a very personal and professional experience."

"We have absolutely no complaints and are thrilled with the outcome.  Ken Bragar responded the same day to our initial phone call (even coming out to our home to meet with us on a Saturday afternoon).  New to the west coast (and SoCal in particular), we relied on and appreciated his expertise in coming up with a plan and list of plants that would work on our property and meet our HOA's requirements.  Ken was willing to make adjustments in design plans and in the positioning of the plantings as the project progressed to ensure we would be happy with the final outcome.  He also traveled far and wide to get the best plants.  His work team was hard-working, careful, professional and competent - often going beyond the call of duty, doing extra work trimming bushes and weeding whenever there was "down" time during the project.  The project was designed and completed within a short time frame and the work was done, as contracted, in 4 days.  The completed project has exceeded our expectations.  We know that come next spring/summer, we will be even more pleased when the plantings produce blooms/flowers.  We especially appreciate that Ken is willing to continue providing services and to help out with any problems/concerns that may arise in the future.  We, therefore, know that the cost for the services that were provided was money well spent. <br />"
