"I went through 2 contractors before turning to Angis list. I'm so glad I did! Chesapeake did a fantastic job. They showed up on time and the price was reasonable. Will definitely use them again in the future."

We are a small general contracting company that have been in business since 1991. We specialize in home additions, garages and remodeling. We also specialize in siding and exterior water damage repair. As a general contractor we do all aspects of work on a home. As I am the owner I am over seeing and working on each of my jobs. I also have subcontractors that handle various parts of the job for my company that specialize in certain areas like electric, plumbing, hvac, etc. When we do a project for a customer we will take care of the designing, blue prints and building permits so that our customer can relax and have a pleasurable experience from start to finish. All our customer jobs receive a computer printed quote for there projects. Large projects come with a computer written detail list and if excepted will receive a contract along with a payment draw schedule.

"Project was never completed. Paid over half the cost of the project. Don completed a portion of the project, but then he never came back to finish the project. Called and texted him numerous times to no avail. I wish I had read reviews from previous customers posted here before I hired him. BUYERS BEWARE and do your research."

"I have one piece of siding on my house that has somehow gotten a hole in it. I have never never replaced a piece of siding before so I thought I would just call a professional to do it. Two companies weren't interested in replacing one piece of siding so I didn't get an estimate from them. I did, however, receive an estimate from DC Exteriors and Renovations. They were willing to replace my single piece of broken siding for $200. Obviously, I turned them down. I found a supplier in Lewes who went out of their way to order one piece of siding for me for $7 and I will now replace the piece myself."

Pressure-treated wood decks typically last between 15 and 25 years with proper maintenance. Factors influencing longevity include local weather conditions, maintenance frequency, wood quality, and usage patterns. Regular sealing provides critical moisture protection, while prompt repairs prevent small issues from causing structural problems. Without proper care, even quality pressure-treated lumber may deteriorate significantly faster.
Most localities require building permits for deck construction, particularly for structures attached to your home or elevated above a certain height. Permit requirements vary significantly between jurisdictions, with costs typically ranging from $50 to $250. Skipping required permits may result in fines, forced removal, or complications when selling your property. Always check with your local building department before beginning construction.
While deck construction occurs year-round in many regions, late spring through early fall typically offers optimal building conditions. However, scheduling during off-peak seasons (late fall or winter) often secures better contractor availability and potentially lower rates. Weather considerations include avoiding periods of excessive rain or freezing temperatures that could complicate concrete work or wood installation.
Newly installed pressure-treated lumber requires a drying period before accepting stain or sealer properly. This waiting period typically ranges from four weeks to three months depending on your climate and the wood's initial moisture content. Testing readiness by sprinkling water on the surface helps determine when the wood will accept treatment—if water beads up, continue waiting; if it absorbs quickly, the deck is ready for staining.
