"This Company is great. Brandon Electric, Inc.(215) 722-2988 They got back to me quick, next day estimate; work completed the very next week. Dom and Lou are the Techs who came out to update our electric wires and boxes. They are very professional, hard working and friendly. They cleaned up after and had respect for our property at all times. They also followed Covid restrictions in place in South Philly. Extremely pleased. we found them on Angie's List."

"Everything was handled in a very personable and professional manner. When making the appointment the cost was fully explained. Mike was on time (actually few minutes early). Job took about an hour. No issues and the cost was as quoted. He took the time to answer questions and to explain the guaranteed work. I will definitely use Stapleford Electric again and recommend them to my friends and family."

"Carlos is a PRO. Came out installed a new 200 amp electrical panel, conduit protected 200 amp line in, full bonding and grounding system, as well as ran a line and installed a generator interlock kit. He was thorough in showing me how to operate everything, the craftsmanship of his work was next level, everything up and running in a timely manner, and the cost was great. 10/10 would recommend for any and all electrical needs."

"I used AMR Service Group to install an EV charger which meant upgrading my wiring systems as well. They came to my house for a quote and were amazingly professional. They gave me some advice and told me in front that I may have one or 2 holes on my ceilings. They came back the week after to install everything. They did a great job in less than 3 hours. I had a quick question on the day after (which was a Sunday). I texted them and they called me back on Monday morning to tell me what to do. I can go on and on to talk about how great they are. I would recommend them for any electrical work at your house!!"

"Highly recommend AMF for all your electrical needs. The whole crew were very professional. Took the time to explain everything from existing issues they found and the steps they would take to repair. They had to move some furniture and other things and paid close attention to detail while cleaning up after themselves and putting everything back exactly how it was. Top notch craftsmanship"

Customers say: Quick response

"We received excellent service from NILES HULL, who performed a pipe repair for a hose attachment in our driveway. The job was $533, and was done well, with pleasant, knowledgeable service. I highly recommend Harris as we've used them for many plumbing and electric projects in recent years. NILES HULL was knowledgeable, caring, and attentive to detail. They stand behind their work. FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Marcus Hook, PA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
