"ACU did a really terrific job, top to bottom! I selected ACU based on their stellar recommendations here and on other sites. It was not the cheapest estimate I got, but it felt like a solid choice based on reviews and my interactions with Terri during the quote process. Also, do note that Terri is licensed by the GA EPD to do asbestos abatement and renovations that may involve the presence of lead paint. Do not discount the importance of this; it can spare you anxiety and expense if unexpected things happen during the renovations. Terri took the time to explain everything to me, and talked to me like an adult. Other contractors I met with glossed over details and oversimplified answers to my questions, which I don't appreciate. I had done my homework, so I had a pretty good idea of the requirements and best practices for remediating asbestos, so I appreciated that Terri spoke with me candidly about the work plan, risks involved, and potential issues. Throughout the work, Terri was accessible to answer any questions I had, and when I raised concerns, she immediately called her crew to touch base, and made a point to send a manager to investigate firsthand. As far as I could tell, her crew followed the requisite practices for remediation. ACU communicated effectively and did the work well. As an anxious person, it was a great relief to have faith in the competence of the firm, and to have responsive project managers willing to answer questions. I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience."

"I called Nathaniel after another contractor found suspected asbestos tape in our crawl space. Nathaniel was able to arrange a same-day appointment for me at a price that was the best of all the many companies I called. He arrived on time and was professional, courteous, and competent. I plan to continue with them for the abatement of any issues his testing uncovers and would highly recommend his team!"

"This company is very responsive, comes out when they say and are knowledgeable and professional. The crew worked carefully and efficiently to remove all asbestos including removing crumbling asbestos from boiler pipes. I initially thought they were a little too expensive, but they tried to work with me. I had received another bid initially about a 25% less, but the other company repeatedly didn't get back to me and wouldn't put all the work agreed upon in a written document. So we went with Bruce Environmental because we felt we could trust them and they were reasonable and kept appointments. It was a very good experience. About a month or so after the removal I saw substance I thought might be more asbestos in the basement, so did several work men. So I called Bruce En. and they came out immediately, told me it was not asbestos but when I looked doubtful they took samples and sent it to be tested at an independent agency. The results were back to me in a few days. NO asbestos, just mineralization and trace amounts of fiber glass insulation. They sent me a copy of the official report. They did not charge me for this service and as I said they were very responsive so I didn't have to wait around worrying about things. Thanks great company."

"The services were performed in a professional manner.  All four bedrooms were cleaned to my satisfaction.  However, this company charges by the room instead of the square footage.  Therefore, if I wanted to get small closets cleaned, they were going to charge me as if they were cleaning another room instead of a small closet.  I did not get any further services from them.  As a matter of fact, I called Angie's List to get recommendations for another company to perform the remainder of the services I needed.  All in all the services provided were excellent and the representative was friendly and professional.  He performed his job very well.   <br />"

"We used Jeremy for the second time, on another pre-1978 house we were purchasing. He did an excellent job. Scheduling was easy. He was thorough and pleasant to work with, and the written report was very detailed. The testing gives you so much peace of mind. It's well worth the money."

"He only charged me $1100 for 11 samples of mold in my home and that included all the lab work from the EPA labs.. He is a very good person and does things right. He is extremely professional and knowledgeable. He tells you the truth and gives you the cost. He drove 78 miles to come do this job and he was on time. He put on the Hazmat suite and was here for 2.5 hours and was extremely thorough. He is a very good Christian man. I would recommend him to anyone and would definitely use him again. I would recommend that anyone go to him, and that they would be wasting their money going elsewhere."

FAQs for asbestos abatement projects in Marietta, GA

Asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring mineral fibers once commonly used in building materials because of their resistance to heat, electricity, and corrosion. However, in 1975, research confirmed that these fibers cause mesothelioma and other cancers, leading to strict usage laws. If your home contains asbestos, removing it can prevent long-term health effects. You'll often find asbestos in the flooring, ceilings, pipes, and roofing of homes built before the 1990s. Common asbestos-containing materials include vermiculite insulation, vinyl flooring, millboard, and corrugated roofing. If you suspect you have asbestos or any of these materials in your home, it's important to hire a reputable abatement company to perform testing.

Currently, there is no federal licensing mandate for asbestos removal contractors. However, certain cities and states require certification and specialized training. For example, in some areas, contractors handling asbestos must receive an Asbestos Handler Certification. Be sure to check your local laws to ensure any contractor you hire meets the necessary requirements.

Homes constructed before the 1990s can conceal asbestos within building materials, and testing provides a definitive answer. You should have your home tested by a certified asbestos inspection service. This professional evaluation identifies hazardous materials and determines whether removal or encapsulation is necessary. Testing safeguards your family’s health and supports smart budgeting for remediation.

Federal law does not require you to disclose the presence of asbestos when selling your home. However, certain states and local jurisdictions impose disclosure regulations that you must follow. Testing and professional remediation confirm that hazardous materials are properly managed. This proactive approach not only meets legal requirements but also protects your property’s value and buyer health.

Asbestos removal affects a home’s resale value because hazardous materials can deter potential buyers. Having toxic substances present lowers buyer confidence and may reduce the property’s value by 1% to 15% if not addressed. Professional remediation ensures safety standards are met and preserves marketability, protecting your long-term investment.

Grants exist at both federal and state levels to support asbestos testing and removal projects. Local housing programs may also offer financial assistance when asbestos is discovered during home repairs. Meeting certification and testing standards is required to secure these funds, which help to manage overall project costs while ensuring safe remediation.
