"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"Worked with Scott B. He was very attentive and punctual for the quote. For instance, since we wanted to match the exisitng color in the foyer, he took a paint sample from a discrete location (which he later patched) to make sure he matched the new paint exactly. His crew was good and worked productively to get the job completed on time.

"Perez Siding was very professional from the first visit to provide the estimate to the confirmation for installation and the installation. Their pricing was highly competitive, work quality was incredible (they went over and above), showed up on time and completed the job same day. I would highly recommend them and would gladly and enthusiastically hire them again."

FAQs for wood or fiber cement siding installation or complete replacement projects in Marion, AR

Hardie board siding lasts between 30 and 50 years when properly installed and maintained, while vinyl siding provides 20 to 40 years of service. Installation quality significantly impacts longevity for both materials. Fiber cement offers superior resistance to impact and fire damage, though vinyl often resists fading better in some climates. Both materials provide substantial manufacturer warranties, though specific terms vary by product line and company.

Maintaining Hardie board siding involves periodic cleaning with a garden hose and soft brush to remove accumulated dirt and debris. Unlike wood siding, it doesn't require regular staining or sealing. Primed boards painted on-site may eventually need repainting, while factory-finished products maintain their appearance longer. Inspecting caulking around joints and penetrations annually helps prevent moisture issues and preserve the siding's integrity.

Installing Hardie board over existing siding may be possible if your current siding is flat and in good condition, and if local building codes permit this approach. However, many professionals recommend completely removing old materials to inspect for hidden damage and ensure proper installation. Overlay installations might affect manufacturer warranty coverage. Consulting with a qualified siding contractor and your local building department will help determine the best approach for your situation.

Hardie board siding stands up exceptionally well to diverse weather challenges. Its cement-based composition resists expansion and contraction during temperature fluctuations, preventing warping and cracking. The material withstands high winds, heavy rain, and hail better than many alternatives. Its non-combustible nature provides excellent fire resistance with a Class A rating. James Hardie manufactures climate-specific product lines optimized for regional weather patterns across North America.

Hardie board siding offers environmental benefits primarily through its exceptional durability and longevity. By lasting decades longer than many alternatives, it reduces the need for frequent replacement and associated resource consumption. The manufacturing process does require significant energy input, but the extended service life helps offset this impact over time. When selecting siding options, consider both production factors and lifetime performance when evaluating environmental impact.

The installation timeline for Hardie board siding depends on several factors, including home size, architectural complexity, and weather conditions. Professional installation teams complete projects within one to two weeks for average homes. Factors that may extend this timeline include extensive preparation work, repairs to underlying structures, complex trim details, and weather delays. Establishing clear expectations with your contractor before beginning work helps ensure a smooth installation process.
