Customers say: Quick response

"Entire process went like clockwork. Gene is an experienced and knowledgeable plumber. In addition to installing the water heater in a timely and professional manner, he was able to give me information on my system that no one else had known or thought to tell me. I would definitely hire him again."

"<p>When our furnace quit in April, our first thought was to use electric heaters and postpone what we were sure would be the very expensive repair of our furnace.  However, two days of bitter cold quickly changed our mind and we called for service late morning.  The repair man was at the house within a couple of hours.  He was friendly, informative, and gave me advice regarding moving the hot air throughout the house and increasing the efficiency of the furnace that we presently have.  He also observed that the metal box around the cold air duct was missing a panel and repaired that for me without hesitation.</p> <br />"

"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

"Submitted request at Angi and got a call from Jacob, owner of Freedom Plumbing soon after. Jacob gave straight-forward up-front pricing. He and Angi kept me informed of his arrival time. Jacob fixed our kitchen drain issue. His work is thorough and high quality. He is really professional and friendly. He explained everything very well and showed me how to keep the drain from clogging. I would definitely recommend him to friends and family."

"Extremely well. Bill Bennett has been with Isaac and its predecessor for many years and knows our house and his business. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Isaac offered a special for both cleanings and tuneups for $169, and that plus tax is the price we paid."

"It was hard to get anyone out here too, because everyone was having trouble. The service was excellent. There was some sort of a glitch, but the head plumber wasn't available, but he got on the phone and sent someone within 15 minutes. The man, out of the goodness of his heart, came by to see what was necessary. He stopped the water from going crazy from going all over the place and did what he could, and came back the next day to finish the job."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Maryland, NY

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
