"Over the past ten years GA Chott has done renovations on my kitchen, my master bath and most recently, this basement project. I don't even bother to get bids from anyone else. They’re that good, in my opinion. I had a totally unfinished basement, and now I have a beautiful finished media room and a sparkling laundry area nearby. They framed in the theatre room, joined the drywall with the concrete walls, trimmed out to look more seamless. Built soffits for HVAC ductwork and vents. Dropped ceiling with recessed dimmable wafer lights. Installed new light switches and electric outlets. The door to the media room was situated to provide a straight path from the laundry area thru the media room to the staircase. The room, the large stairway, and the landing were all carpeted with nice thick padding underneath. Wonderful underfoot. (They only use high quality materials.) The staircase walls and ceilings were painted. The unfinished part has a bathroom that they refurbished with new shower heads, grab bars, electric outlet, and rough part of wall skim coated. All doors were painted. All walls, built in cabinetry and workbench were painted. The floors were painted - which involved moving the washer, dryer, heavy workbench, storage cabinet, exercise equipment, etc. etc. and then moving it all back again. They even helped me to remove and/or give away some items I no longer needed. My brand new big screen tv was mounted on the wall. Then... it quit working. Darryll went above and beyond: he came out and dismantled it, loaded it for return and then mounted the replacement. Which reminds me - any time there is a problem or concern of any kind, they are super responsive and quick to take care of it. The work crew is extremely considerate and a pleasure to have in your home. I happen to be a retired lady so I was mostly present, but I would not hesitate to leave them unattended. I enjoy this renovation every day. It adds a whole new dimension to my home. If you appreciate quality work done to precise and detailed specifications then you should definitely consider GA Chott & Associates, Inc."

"The project was on the high end of the price range, the sales guys were nice and had a well put together pitch. The guys who did the work were very nice and did great work. These guys truly were the best part. Now the down side, there was a problem with ordering the shower door and the communication around that was extremely poor. It wasn?t until I wrote an email to the customer service department did anyone get back to me about where my shower door was. Overall it took a little over a month to get the door installed after the shower was complete. That wouldn?t have been so bad if they had better communication about the project. In the end, I am happy with the shower that was installed. I would recommend them, just be prepared to be very proactive about communication if anything goes sideways."

Brian Inkley (owner) and Jacob Quick (project manager) have a team of dedicated, talented professionals. They did a superb job in restoring our damaged house. They are a busy team of workers who kept us appraised of their availability for the various stages of our restoration. For the repairs that they didn't do themselves they had excellent recommendations for the professionals we needed such as the carpet installation, closet system installation, kitchen cabinets and the refinishing of our hardwood floors. They seem to be in demand, working at several projects at the same time but we always felt that we were their top priority. "Gary was prompt, professional, and courteous. He confirmed my suspicions that the addition, built without a permit by a previous owner, was in such poor condition that it would be more cost-effective to demolish it than to repair it. He confirmed my research about how best to replace the collapsing retaining wall. He also confirmed my thought that the whole yard would have to be regraded, to prevent future water damage to a new wall and any new construction to replace the addition. He was very knowledgeable and willing to educate.
Gary gave me a ballpark estimate for the entire amount of work that needed to be done. We decided to go with someone else, though.
I took my time and collected estimates from five different landscapers and/or contractors for the work. I liked the idea of using Kimberlin because they were the only company we considered that could handle both the construction and the landscaping work. I had thought that might save money. But Kimberlin's estimate was on the high side. By using a separate landscaper and deck-builder I am spending about 20% less, total.
Also, Gary didn't seem to be eager to take on the work. He strongly emphasized how expensive it would be. I had the impression that he thought that the property was not worth the investment. True, property values have dropped quite a lot. But we intend to live here for many more years. All in all, I'd rather work with someone as enthusiastic as my husband and I are about restoring an old house in the city, even if the neighborhood is not high rent."
