"Initially, my interaction with Hunley was good. A technician (Nick) found an issue with a hose that connects to my furnace. A small piece of plastic was lodged inside, which Nick removed. He was thorough, knowledgeable, & friendly. He even took the time to share a tutorial on how to read and understand my furnace error codes. His visit cost $186.40 & my furnace was blowing warm air again. However, about 6 hours afterwards, my Nest gave me a "critical error" alert that said there was a severe problem with the furnace running while the temp inside the home decreased. I immediately informed Hunley about the problem. On 4/17, the owner (Brian) was due to arrive at 10am. By 11:30am, I was told he was stuck in traffic. We rescheduled for him to return at 4:30. He arrived late again and in an unmarked truck. After about an hour, Brian said that he thought the circuit board was broken. He also described other scenarios that could explain why our furnace wasn’t working correctly. He suggested that the furnace needs to be overhauled completely, even suggesting that it would require moving it outside since repair is very labor-intensive. His communication of this alleged problem with our furnace was not persuasive, clear, or understandable. I asked Brian why his diagnosis was so different than his employee’s diagnosis a week prior (i.e., when Nick visited). His response was, “he’s only got 3 years of experience & I have 12. I also own this company, so there’s that.” I was uncomfortable with this response and I found it strange to take such a defensive position- especially since it’s rather degrading to his employee. Brian also said that he doesn’t spend much time on service calls and, instead, spends most of his time in the office. This evidence undermines my trust in his competence and skill. To move forward, I needed more information from him before I agreed to the investment he was asking for (e.g., the cost of labor was described as “at least $1,200”). I was asking another question when Brian suddenly said, mid-sentence, that he needed to get home to his family. He then picked up his bag and sulked back to his truck. He left with an abrupt “I’ll issue a refund for everything” & drove away. About 20 minutes later, I received a text from Brian that acknowledged his unprofessional behavior & offered an apology. He also stated that he’s “going through a lot right now” as an explanation. By his own admission, Brian was grossly inappropriate. I rejected his offer to perform future services because I do not feel safe with him in my home and would not trust his work. I feel compelled to share my honest account of experiences with this company in hopes of warning other homeowners in Morgantown. I also found out that Brian contacted other HVAC COs to see if they had me as a customer. This behavior was reported immediately. Brian told us that (1) our furnace error code was reading incorrectly, (2) the entire unit needed to be overhauled, (3) flickering flames proved there was a leak, and (4) more than $10k would be required for repair. Thankfully, another HVAC company confirmed the inaccuracy of Brian's claims."

"Kevin was fabulous. He repaired the broken pipe in the upstairs bathroom and got the water running in the house again. He was quick, efficient, and kind. Would absolutely hire him again for future repairs."

If you’re replacing an old AC system with a new unit, you can usually clean and repair the old ductwork without having to conduct a full replacement. Cleaning HVAC ducts typically costs around $400, while repairs range from $200 to $1,000. In contrast, installing new ductwork can range from $1,000 to $5,000, making it far more costly than cleaning or fixing existing ducts. HVAC installation costs an average of $7,000 to replace a full system, so staying on top of maintenance and repairs is important.
AC cost efficiency depends on the size of your space and your long-term plans for your home. If you only need to cool a small area, a portable AC unit has a low upfront cost. Heat pumps are typically the most cost-effective option if you want to cool an entire home or improve the resale value. They provide strong cooling while being energy-efficient, which saves you money on your utility bills compared to most other AC types.
Installing a central AC unit typically takes four to eight hours if your home already has ductwork in place. However, if new ductwork needs to be installed, this can add another one to two days of labor to your project.
