"In addition to a quick response to my initial inquiry, Erik was able to come the following day to service my sump pump. I even received a text telling me that his first job was taking a little longer and he would be about an hour later than he originally planned. I also received an immediate reply to a follow-up question I had after the work was completed. I was very impressed with Erik and would recommend him to anyone needing waterproofing or sump pump services."

"Raecon Plumbing responded quickly and came the same day, but didn't have the right snake to clear the drain. They promised to return the next morning but had to reschedule to the afternoon. Once they came with the big snake, the job was done quickly and the drain was fully cleared."

"They installed an interior french drain and sump pump in one day. They were efficient and cleaned everything up before they left. The system is working great and no issues with water in my basement anymore."

"The crew worked very efficiently and professionally, and completed the project in two days in cold early January weather, installing wall/ earth anchors and an interior french drain and sump pump. The foreman extensive experience with this type of work was obvious as he adapted to unforeseen conditions very calmly and professionally. Lastly they cleaned up the work sight perfectly including restoring the sod in the lawn. I'm very impressed with the company and their employees."

"Great job, replaced old draining system from previous owner and placed a French Drain around the basement alleviating my water issues. Only issue I had is that they removed a 1 yr old Sump Pump and never gave it back after my request numerous times. That's been at least 3 months ago. Good group of guys!"

"Everything went well, the plumber explained what was happening. I was given 2 price quotes on what he could do. One was around $1000 and one price around $500. I did use my $100 discount on work performed. I personally thought it was way over priced, but I needed the drip to stop because it was costing me money. The plumber completed the job and everything is working fine. He was professional and friendly."

"Hired Bracken to do an interior French drain and a sump pump for a house I am selling. My buyers had requested this install before we could close on the house. Danny came out quickly to look at the project and was able to give me a reasonable quote on the spot. After my buyers dragged their feet for 2 weeks trying to decide if they wanted to take a credit they returned to the original plan of having the install completed before we could close on the house. I reached back out to Danny and he was able to rearrange the schedule to get his team out to get the work done less than a week after contact. I couldn’t be happier with the service and the final product is very professional looking and should last a long time for my buyers. I am now able to sell the house without extending the closing date again and I’m thrilled about that. I will be using this company again for any similar projects and would recommend others do the same. Thank you Bracken Waterproofing!"

"The guys that came and did the actual work were very nice and did a great job . The problem was the management from Bill and down to Travis , my basement has a toilet that could not be moved .. well by the floor being jackhammered damaged the toilet it now leaking because of hairline cracks at the base , after contacting Travis and sending pictures to him their response was we will send you $100 and you can buy a new toilet ! When Bill bid the job he made sure to tell me about how they are insured up to 2 million dollars Thst $100 dollars doesnâ t really buy a toilet and then the cost of getting someone to install it will be hundreds more for that reason of them not wanting to take care of what they damaged I would not recommend ABC to anyone they got their money snd could have cared less about my issue !! Poor communication with this company and also the broom swept my basement I sm still trying to clean up the mess and it has been 2 weeks very disappointed ! I guess I should say buyer beware !!"

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Mcdonald, PA

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
