"They were able to schedule the installation for the same day I called. The plumber called me when he was ready to head my direction, around the expected time and then arrived as expected. He removed and installed the new unit. I've enough plumbing knowledge to know that he did a good job. It was completed in a reasonable amount of time. He was responsive to questions and paid attention to protecting carpet and other things while he moved equipment in/out and worked. <br /> <br /> Valenta continues to be my go-to plumber in Cedar Rapids."

"Our home is 90 years old and had two toilets that might have been “originals.” After having had Roto Rooter come out, there was no blockage, just very slow flushing action. Roto Rooter recommended we replace both toilets. After scheduling a service call with Master Plumbing, John arrived and went right to work. We talked about options, and he made it very clear what the price of the new toilets would be. By the time he had removed the old toilets, the new ones had been delivered. John did an excellent job with both installations and cleaned-up where he’d been working. He left a few hours ago, and we can report that we are very satisfied and will definitely ask for John, again. Thanks, Master Plumbing."

"<br /> We received a quote in late may and then ordered the work about the middle of June. We had a special order for the shower/tube walls that into late July, were still not in . We then agreed with affordable plumbing, to let them do the special order on site. The work finally progressed with a few more problems. When the installer showed up ,they had the wrong walls. This was corrected that afternoon. We then discovered that the doors we were reusing needed longer top and bottom tracks . Reorder took another 5 to 6 days. We were very happy with the final product and the excellent installation. To do over again I would make sure up front that the product was readily available and all the measurements were correct. We should have had an onsite measurement ,instead of using prior measurements from previous quotes. <br /> <br />"

"Excellent work, well-chosen unit by him (he personally tests everything he sells). The unit has a replaceable head, so if that goes bad, you don't have to replace the whole unit. <br /> Another excellent job by A2Z: fast, clean, reliable, professional. Just incredibly professional and super knowledgeable about what he sells. <br /> All my plumbing work goes to them."

"Our kitchen sink and laundry tub empty into the same branch line, that has a tendency to get clogged. This time the blockage was farther than our 25 foot snake.  Dion came out the same day I called.  He had the drain flowing freely within 20 minutes!  And he did it for a very reasonable price!  I would recommend his services to anyone with drain/sewer issues! <br />"

"I needed my entry door from the garage to the house adjusted and a mailbox replaced. I had replaced the hinges on the door (when the springs in the old self closing ones snapped) with new ones but the door swing was off after I did this and I couldn't get it correctly adjusted. Dan came and fixed it in no time. Our mailbox was leaning due to being nudged by a neighbor girls car one winter several years ago and it had gotten to the point where we needed to replace it. As the 4x4 post still appeared to be good but just leaning, I decide to get one of those replacement mailboxes where it has a metal sleeve that slides over a 4x4 post. I wasn't sure if the old post could be straightened back up and told Dan to see what he could do, and if not then replace the post. But Dan was able to get it back straight by doing a little digging, and then cut the post to the right height, assemble the new mailbox, and slid the new mailbox over it. Turned out pretty good. Was very pleased with the work Dan did and how quickly he did it. The $120 was a resonable price for the work he performed."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Mechanicsville, IA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
