"We worked with Swieter to have seven windows replaced in our four season room. We were on a timeline to get the windows installed as we had scheduled an Open House on a specific date and, of course, wanted the window installation complete before the Open House. Scott was the second contractor we had out to the house and his knowledge and professionalism was great. My husband and I were both impressed with him and he made the sale. Unfortunately, upon further reflection after the job was finished, I was slightly disappointed in his professionalism during the install. All in all, I wish would have told us about the obstacles he was running into and how he was going to work around them during the install, instead of saying nothing about it. <br /> He knew we had recently purchased the home, so it would have been nice for him to educate us more about what was going on during the process of the installation. Since we wanted to get the install done, we agreed to be on an 'on call' list in case of inclement weather, as ours was mostly an inside project. Thus, on the day of the install, it was chilly and rainy outside. It wasn't until we were putting the room furniture back in place, that we found numerous stains on the carpet. At first we thought they were muddy stains but upon further investigation we figured out they were actually stains caused by walking around in the wet leaves on our patio and then on the carpet. This, coupled with some trim and alignment issues, is why I was disappointed that the installer did not take more time to talk about the install, the obstacles he rain into and how he worked around them. All in all, I would consider Swieter for another project but I would probably spend more time checking in on them as they worked and definitely asking more questions. <br />"

"My entire home is hard wood floors except for one 5x7 area rug in the living room. And after awhile that rug, even with regular vacuuming, gets pretty dirty (especially with a dog that sheds A LOT). It didn't make send to rent a Rug Doctor for a 5x7 rug, and it certainly didn't make send to buy anything, so I called Springer to take advantage of their service to pick up, clean and then return area rugs. Scheduling a pick-up was quite easy - they were flexible and able to give me a couple-hour wide window of time just a couple days after my call. The estimate was that the rug would be ready and returned in about a week, but actually was ready in just 5 days. Return delivery was equally easy to schedule - in fact the morning I'd scheduled the return I was called and asked if I was home so they could bring it early. <br /> It's a bit pricey when you consider what I paid to clean a relatively small area rug, but the convenience more than makes up for that. Also, everyone I dealt with at Springer was very friendly and professional. I'd definitely use the service again next time my rug needs a deep cleaning."

"Bruce Porter did a good job. He is a little disorganized with his bidding process (emailing) but he finally got it figured out. I liked him well enough as an installer, but the quality of the installation is Good not Excellent. Some grout lines are inconsistent, there was small amounts of grout left on tiles. Some tiles bulge out.  <br /> I will say he did help me figure out how to tile out the window in my tub (other installers had no idea what to do) and it was a pretty slick install. Props to Bruce on that. <br /> I would probably use Bruce again. He came out quickly after I called for initial evaluation, had a reasonable bid to me fairly quickly, and started work fairly soon after I accepted even though it was around the end of the year. He also drove from Indianola to my place in Ames. That alone is worth a bunch because other installers I got estimates from took forever at every step of the bidding process and they were in town. <br />"
