"We hired Dmitry and his company Roofing and Siding of Cape Cod last summer 2023 for a fairly large house renovation project including roof, siding, all windows replacement including architectural remodeling, and high-end deck rebuilding. We found Dmitry’s company via CertainTeed suggested as certified roof installers, as we wanted to install high-end CertainTeed's Grand Manor shingles with multiple skylights and all copper valleys, drip edge and gutters. We also decided to install James Hardy siding which requires certification for correct installation. Dmitry provided very detailed quote, after several meeting with us (6 times), until we discussed every detail including what type of nail will be used to install siding, or copper parts on the roof. I’m not easy person to work as I get to every nuance such as metal incompatibility I.e. copper and aluminum etc. Before I hired Dmitry, I met with 7 different contractors, to discuss the details of the project, architectural redesign, building new 5 levels IPE deck with modern stainless steel handrails, rebuilding new bow huge triple panel windows and transom Marvin windows including lvl support and all copper work. Out of 6 contractors, four didn’t understand the level and details I was asking for my project. Another contractor quoted me for the price equivalent to build a new house, however only Dmitry understood what I really requesting to every detail, he was transparent and honest, and no one couldn’t get close to his quoted price. We signed an agreement and Dmitry started the project. Around 3-5 crews worked simultaneously for 4 months, very very skilled and professional people working with Dmitry for very long time coming every morning at 8am. Dmitry was tolerant and followed my new requests and additions which appeared during the project. I really cannot find anything negative I experienced during the renovation. I will definitely hire Dmitry’s company again. Please reach out to me for any questions."

"We hired Durable Remodeling to build a brand new front porch on our house, and it came out beautifully. We have a 120-year-old Colonial house, which is in good shape, except that the front portico and a side entrance were both falling apart. Dean gave us several different ideas about how we could replace or repair them, and he encouraged us to think creatively about what we want. We decided to add a large farmer's porch to the front of our house and redesign the side entrance. Dean designed both beautifully, and the entire Durable Remodeling crew worked fast, efficiently, and carefully. Throughout the entire project, it was clear they knew exactly what they were doing. The porch matches the style of our house so perfectly that it looks like it has been there since the house was built. The side entrance has become much more functional with the redesign, while staying true to the house's style. We highly recommend Durable Remodeling!"

"It was an outstanding job from start to finish. This was an entire Bathroom Remodel that was managed by a quality conscious, detail oriented perfectionist. John is an expert carpenter, but more importantly, has the management skills to complete an involved project that required several sub contractors. John has been able to put together an awesome and reliable team of incredible craftsmen. I would highly recommend John for any project! Richard and Joanne Dealy Sandwich"

"Extremely satisfied with the work done. Mark and his crew were trustworthy, very neat, and kept me informed as the work went on. They stripped off the old wood shingles and clapboard siding and wrapped the house. Vinyl siding and trim was done with attention to the smallest details. Shingling the roof was added at the time of the siding job in March after damage to the existing roof from a winter storm. All new gutters and downspouts were installed. The deck was reconstructed with pressure treated wood and came out excellent. I was very impressed with the communication prior to the start of the job and throughout till completion. It seems rare nowadays to have such good communication, as many times people just don't call back when you are trying to get an estimate. Whittemore Home Improvement is the exception, they let you know they want the work and do a quality job with quality materials. <br />"

"Mike and his crew were super nice; reliable; punctual; professional; helpful; fast; accurate. <br /> They installed my roof about a decade ago and did a great job. <br /> This time around, I used them to replace an old skylight and remove an old satellite dish on the roof. <br /> The skylight was more than just a standard install as the original one was not a standard size and was a kind that is no longer made. So they had to make framing adjustments to fit the new unit. <br /> These folks know what they're doing and they do it well! <br /> Would definitely highly recommend them. <br />"

"The men that came to our home were very professional and offered a lot of information.  They let me know that the roof may be able to go another year or two which was a pleasant surprise since we have a few other things to do to our house.  They examined the attic and offered some suggestions to help with better air flow and moisture removal to prevent mold. The price they quoted included a new layer on two sheds and a roof vent for our upstairs bathroom and a power vent for moisture control. It all seemed very fair compared to other quotes we received.  When the time comes to replace our roof we will definitely go with them. <br />"

"We originally called Matt because of a leak in our home's roof. Out of the 3 companies we called, Matt is the only one that actually went up on the roof to check it out. Turns out, it wasn't an issue with the roofing, but with the chimney and he recommended a great mason. We also have a summer property that had a definite roof leak and again, we called around for a few bids. One company gave us a bid over the phone. Again, Matt went to check it out and gave us a bid. His bid was higher than the "phone bid" but I knew there wouldn't be any surprises since he actually saw the job. His crew did a great job and left a clean job site. When it is time to replace my home's roof, I will be calling Matt!"

"We had carpet in our family room and office, and were in desperate need of a change. KBA has done numerous projects in my house, each time with exquisite results. Therefore, i got in touch with Bruce and he came out on time and took the measurements and sent me a quote within a day. He took time to go to Home Depot with me, where we figured out what look would go best with the house and my budget. Bruce was honest with me about the timeline of the project, and if there was ever an issue he always connected with me to see what would be the best way to solve the issue. I have used KBA for about 4 years for various projects around my house, and will definitely be using them for many more years to come!"

"The project went excellent.  Jeff Baroni and his team are professional, polite and on time which is so rare for contractors on Cape Cod.  They did the work in a timely manner and were in constant contact with me when there were delays due to weather or finding material needed to complete the job.  I found their pricing to be reasonable and would highly recommend them to others looking to do any size job needed."

"I cannot speak highly enough of Tom and Brad Green of Colonial Restorations. We have lived in our antique house for 16 years now, and like most old homes, some of its previous repairs were good, some not so good. Tom Green worked on this house for its previous owners, and his work was, by far, the best in the house. So, we continued to use Colonial - Tom, then Tom and Brad - as we learned the ropes about caring for an old house - our first house, old or new. Over the years, they have replaced sills and posts and beams, and rebuilt parts of our loose stone foundation. Most recently, they replaced the last original posts in our basement, (one of which was a tree trunk still with bark on it), including pouring new custom footings, in advance of our finally cementing the dirt floor. The work here is never easy - nothing is level, nothing is square - but the Greens' end result has always been beautiful - strong and made to last. Their prices are fair and without hidden costs....maybe not the lowest bid you might get, but you know it's a real bid that they will stand behind. They triage projects for us, giving us an idea of what other items will likely need attention in the next few years. We're not done with this house yet....we've never won the lottery, and there's always another repair..... and plan to use them again soon. I feel confident knowing that the next owners of this house, whoever they might be, will see the quality of the work and know that we cared enough to have the right people help us with the ongoing repair and maintenance of a 275+ year old house. I am a real person, a real customer, with no ties to the company, and was more than happy to write this review."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Menemsha, MA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
