"I had prevously had an Ajax Plumber sent from First American Home Buyers.  He tried cabling the drain in the shower and then determined the problem was with the vent and he needed  to go up on the roof and cable the shower vent.  This was not covered under the First American Home Buyers Warranty.  The price would be $250 which seemed excessive to me.
I then checked Angies list and saw that Casa View Plumbing was rated A on drains with reasonable prices.  When I called, the appointment was scheduled for that afternoon.  When they arrived, I explained was had occurred to that point and it was decided that cabling the roof vent was the way to go.  They quoted a price of $140  honored the $25 coupon I found on line.  for a final price of $115.
