"This was a very complicated concrete installation involving moving equipment and several points of water flow management to keep water flowing away from the house. Mr. Hernandez and his crew handled this job as well as setting some fence posts and moving some gravel for me that wasn't even related to the job. Excellent!"

"It went really well, better than expected. Mr. King was great to work with as he provided me several options for water proofing (for the future) and he installed a sump pump which is what I needed as the first step. He was on time, cleaned up after the job was done (and during) and wanted to make sure we were very happy with his work. I waited to do a review because I wanted to see how the sump pump worked after rain. We have had a couple of good rain events since it was installed and we heard it working and doing its job. The unit is a little loud, but knowing it is working and moving the water out of the crawlspace is all that matters to me."

"United Contractors went above and beyond expectations in thier work as well as customer service. They made a cement landing at the foot of our outdoor stairs and a sidewalk and patio in our backyard. Both are very well constructed, attractive and have great functionality. They took care of details we never considered, but add to the longevity and functionality. They listened carefully to what we needed and helped us to see just what it would look like so we knew it would meet our needs before they started. They were a pleasure to work with."

Small jobs welcome

"We recently hired G3 Concrete to complete a concrete garage approach and sidewalk, and we’re very satisfied with the results. From start to finish, the team was professional, punctual, and communicative. They showed up on time each day and completed the job within the promised timeline, which we really appreciated. The workmanship is excellent — the finish is clean, the grading is smooth and tge edges are crisp, the joints are evenly spaced and aligned, and the surface looks durable and well-finished. They clearly take pride in their work. The crew kept the site tidy, they explained the process and took the time to answer any questions we had. Overall, I’d highly recommend G3 Concrete for any concrete work. They delivered high quality results on time and with professionalism."

"Lucio and his crew are amazing. I hired him for roofing, siding, window installation, rock footing/underpinning, new concrete driveway and sidewalks, among other home remodeling. His crews were some of the hardest workers. Always professional, excellent workmanship, and worked with urgency to help me complete my house project timely. Pricing was fair and Lucio was always available for getting to add on services! I will definitely use him as needed in future!"

"We called Accede after finding them online.
Initially we called them for quotes on a back yard construction project we've been considering for a long time.
The owner, Jess Marshall met us and took measurements.
While he was on the roof checking on some structural items he noticed hail damage on our roof and gutters.
He encouraged us to call our insurance company, which we did.
When our adjuster came to look at our property Jess met him to show him the damage he'd observed.
Our insurance company totaled several items including the roof, gutters, fence, etc.
We contracted with Accede Construction to repair all of the insurance claim items as well as to build the new back yard structures and concrete patio.
We were impressed with the way Jess and his team communicated with us about scheduling and other technical project issues.
Every time my husband or I had a question or a concern, Jess and his project managers got back to us right away.
We are so happy with the finished patios, arbors, roof, gutters, fence etc.
The attention to detail and cleanup efforts from all the Accede crews was impressive.
Jess also processed our insurance claim paperwork and helped us recover our depreciation as well as a supplement.
My husband and I have already referred Accede to friends and family and we will continue to do so!

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Mexia, TX

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
