"Current Electric Contracting LLC was efficient and professional in their overall response to our issue. We had to have a few breakers replaced in our panel. Their pricing was fair. We will definitely keep them in our contractor database and hire them again."

"We purchased the home a month before all of our electrical issues started. Come to find out that water was following the main wire into the panel, and moisture was building behind the breakers. We found the problem when a circuit became overloaded, and the breaker didn't trip, causing the wire to overheat and almost cause a serious fire inside the wall void and drop ceiling. We started calling all the local services, and that's when we found Alex and the crew of Princeton Electrical Makeover (PEM). Even during the great pandemic (COVID-19) of 2020, PEM was responsive, professional, reasonable, and safe when coming into our home. Alex, the owner of PEM, took our call and immediately made us feel at ease. He asked us the right questions to start diagnosing the issues and even agreed to come out and look at it himself (now that's a great owner/operator). When Alex arrived, the same day we called, he wore a mask, gloves, and even shoe covers to keep the home clean and germ-free. When he realized the severity of the situation and our need for immediate service, he agreed to do the work immediately and called in some backup. Before we knew it, the house was back and running in one day. He and his crew found multiple burnt wires and a circuit that wasn't operating as intended. My family and I appreciated the great work that done so much that we invited PEM in to do some upgrades and installation a week later. Great prices, great service, great people make for an excellent experience. THANK YOU Princeton Electrical Makeover for being caring, honest, and reliable!!!"

"The initial person that did the diagnostic was very friendly and came up with a solution which the owner contracted him to do but the second group that came was different group and that was wrong it should have been the same person plus an assistant to do the job because there was a miscommunication from the owner with his employees on how to get the job accomplished. They were not able to solve my electrical issue and it became a waste of time and money. At the end I paid $175 plus I gave each guy $20 so that’s $40 to do the primary job of fixing the light electrical or fixing the electricity in the garage and they didn’t do it. The people came in the afternoon even though we agreed that it would be in the morning. The owner’s organization was not very efficient. The employees were friendly, but the owner was disorganized. The owner insisted for us to pay in cash."

"We have been very pleased to use Raynor Services for installing new outlets in our home as well as yearly service to our heating system and electrical inspection of our electrical systems. Bob E. just left after inspecting our electric and offering some options for projects we plan next spring. The attention to customer satisfaction from Raynor has been exemplary. We can always reach a live polite person by phone, receive immediate attention, and on-time respectful technicians that clean up after they are done working. Bob E. was professional and yet cheerful and friendly in explaining options and costs to me this morning. Who could ask for anything more? We do pay $19 per month to insure our HVAC and electrical systems are safe and effective. Raynor is our trusted "go-to" company."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Middlesex, NJ

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
