"When they called (after I assume HomeAdvisor contacted them), I was told it would cost $89 to come out to give me an estimate. I had no problem with that but tried to get some rough estimate on how much a straightforward replacement of faucet would cost - but no estimate. When the plumber arrived, he first tried to get me to join some membership in order to get some percentage reduction in the cost (but I still had no idea of that cost). Bottom line was that the cost was over $600 for one hour of work. I will add that the plumber did an excellent job so I have no issues with their work. It is more about how they charge for their work. Next time, I will either find someone that is willing to charge by the hour or is willing to provide free estimates."

"Thank you to Keith who promptly called the first night I made the inquiry to Sandi who arranged everything to Eugene and Ryan who came out to repair leaking pipes on the water filtration system and replace the kitchen faucet on a Saturday to accommodate my schedule! They were very kind and professional. Eugene and Ryan did an amazing job. They had to cut out and replace brass fittings and pex piping, replace the shut-off valve and replace the kitchen faucet. They know what they re doing and make a great team! I am very pleased with the results! I consider it a blessing to have met them and done business with the wonderful people who are part of Mr. Rooter!"

"I hired them to replace a sluggish toilet. Andrew took my call immediately and set a schedule for the next day. He came right on time and did a great job. I will definitely call them again."

"My pump went out and Skillings was very prompt in setting up an appointment the same afternoon. The crew was very professional and courteous. They did a great job diagnozing the issue and replacing the pump. They also did tune up for the water pump equipment indoors and explained me how to bleed the water before turning on the water. Very happy with the service and prompt response. Their rates were also reasonable for the service they performed."

"After 24 years, our well died. The original installer had long since retired and closed the company so I found Steven Sontag on AL. He answered the phone, on a Saturday morning at 10:30, on the second ring. With the information I was able to provide, he determined that a new motor, and likely the pump as well, would need replacement. Unfortunately, the motor/pump combination I had was rather unusual and would need to be ordered, i.e., he did not have one in stock. When it arrived, he came out the next morning, pulled the pump (sitting at 400' down) and confirmed immediately it needed replacement. A professional aspect to this was that he clearly demonstrated why replacement was warranted. The entire job took just under three (3) hours. He even made several suggestions about the set up of my sprinkler system that appear to have improved its function. Steven and his son were professional, efficient and courteous. I have no reservations about having him return if there problems in the future or recommending him should one of my friends or neighbors need well service."

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Milford, NH

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
