Customers say: True professional

"I highly recommend Scott's Home Renewal.  I've had them do
some repair on dry wall that was the result of plumbing and electrical
upgrades.  Their work was excellent and they left the site very tidy. It
was a pleasure working with this father and son team.

"I haven’t had my shower installed yet, but I was very impressed with the customer services and their warranty and demonstrated quality materials. I won’t get the install till October, but that gives me time to save up."

"Bruce Porter did a good job. He is a little disorganized with his bidding process (emailing) but he finally got it figured out. I liked him well enough as an installer, but the quality of the installation is Good not Excellent. Some grout lines are inconsistent, there was small amounts of grout left on tiles. Some tiles bulge out.
I will say he did help me figure out how to tile out the window in my tub (other installers had no idea what to do) and it was a pretty slick install. Props to Bruce on that.
I would probably use Bruce again. He came out quickly after I called for initial evaluation, had a reasonable bid to me fairly quickly, and started work fairly soon after I accepted even though it was around the end of the year. He also drove from Indianola to my place in Ames. That alone is worth a bunch because other installers I got estimates from took forever at every step of the bidding process and they were in town.

"Todd was fantastic! The work was all great and the shower tile was matched so expertly you can't tell where his work stops and the decades-old tile begins. When he was going to be 45 minutes late the second day, he dropped us a line in advance to let us know.
He brought name-brand, fairly standard faucets to install in the two kitchen & two bathroom sinks and tub; they were fine, but it would've been nice to have had input as to type/style/etc. when having that many faucets installed.
He did all the work in less than two days. Would definitely hire him again!

FAQs for shower installation and replacement projects in Milo, IA

You should regrout tile every 10 to 15 years, provided it is well-maintained with regular cleaning and sealing. Over time, grout can deteriorate due to exposure to moisture, foot traffic, and the use of cleaning agents. If you start to see cracks, discoloration, crumbling grout, or loose tiles, it’s a sign that regrouting is needed sooner.

The most effective way to clean grout involves a combination of powerful cleaning agents and the right tools. Using a dedicated grout brush intensifies the cleaning process, ensuring a deep clean. Create a powerful homemade solution by mixing baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and dish soap to break down deeply embedded dirt. After cleaning, reseal the grout to lock in protection and maintain its appearance.

You can't regrout tile without removing the existing grout and expect good, long-lasting results. You must replace the old grout when it begins to crumble and fail. New grout cannot properly adhere to existing grout, meaning moisture will still reach the damaged layer and cause additional water damage, which will be more costly to deal with in the long run.

Visible indicators, such as cracks, stains, chipping, and mold growth, signal that your grout is compromised and no longer maintains its bonding strength. If you notice these issues, cleaning alone won't restore the grout's integrity. In such cases, consider complete or partial regrouting to preserve your surfaces and prevent further damage.
