"Ron is an absolute gentleman. Very courteous, kind and HONEST. It was the easiest experience I have ever had with a carpet cleaning service. Ron is the most knowledgeable and meticulous person I have ever hired for this type of job. He takes true pride in the work. He made my floors and furniture look as if I just purchased them that day. He made very good recommendations on the future care of my carpets. If you are looking for someone for this type of carpet and furniture cleaning service. Look no further then Rightway Stone and Carpet Care. You will not be disappointed. This is a legitimate review."

"Best company and crew ever! We have remodeled 3 homes as DIYers down to the studs and rebuilt them all back up. We now have 4 kids and don’t have time to do it ourselves anymore. We’re very picky, had a tight budget and had obtained quotes from several places before moving forward. Five Star Floors came in with the best quote and easiest experience from beginning to end. They did an excellent job and don’t subcontract the work out. It’s their own employees who have pride in their work. We love our new floors so much and plan on using them again when we change out the carpet! We already recommended them to another neighbor down the street!"

"They are the Rolls Royce of carpet cleaning in Santa Clara County! They have the right equipment and the best staff to provide the best carpet cleaning quality. I will continue to use their services for future projects. I wish they were not as expensive so I could use them as often as I would like! In the case of this company, you do get what you pay for!"

"The company was good. The finished work was excellent. The guy was very patient with us. We have oak floor throughout the floor part of the stairs and we were thinking we were gonna use in the upstairs hallway and he said, and ldquo;Consider just carpeting the whole thing, it would cost a lot less and I think you'll like it just as well. If you don't, you can always take the carpet off and put in the wood later if that's really what you want to do.and rdquo; I think we made a good choice just to do what he said. We probably saved a couple thousand dollars. I think it's the right thing to do, I think it looks good. I have no complaints with them. I think the price was reasonable. The quality of the product was great. He called back a couple of times just to make sure that we were satisfied with everything."

"Carpet installation went just fine, have no complaints about the service, quality or anything else except that we never got the 10% discount for finding this company on Angie's list. I was not there when it was done and my son said they didn't ask anything, but strangely enough left him with Angie's list fridge magnet!!!
So, make sure you mention that when you call for the service. I am little sad, because my son is a struggling veteran trying to improve his life and habitat on a shoestring budget, but is always reluctant to ask for any discounts or prefferential treatment...

"Budget Flooring redid our floor after a disastrous installation by another contractor.  The new floor looks great!
We've got an Eichler-style house, which makes everything difficult.  There's no subfloor - just an aging concrete slab - and the house is near sea level, so a modest amount of moisture seeps through the concrete.
Contractor #1 neglected to test for moisture and did a glue-down installation of solid wood flooring.  The glue didn't set properly because of the dampness, the wood absorbed moisture and warped, and finally when it got warm the wood expanded and buckled, leaving big mounds throughout the house.  A huge mess (happily, Amica Insurance sorted us out).
Vlad recommended a floating installation (to allow for thermal expansion) of engineered wood (to prevent absorption and warping) over a double moisture barrier (to reduce moisture in the first place).
His crew took 4 days total to do the installation, 2 days for each half of the house, which allowed us to move the furniture around during the installation instead of putting everything into storage.   On day 1 they did demolition and vapor barrier installation, and on day 2 they installed the wood.
The installers did a nice job, and it was clear they paid close attention to detail.  During the demolition, they pulled up some old linoleum in the kitchen, which installer #1 didn't do, and they cleaned up the old glue, which in my experience is an enormous pain.  The installation was neatly done, and there was almost no dust in the house after they were finished.  Even the baseboards had nice little touches: they caulked small gaps and deftly handled some existing molding that made for difficult installation in a few spots.  Notably, they trimmed the bottom of our front door to allow room for the added height from the moisture barriers, and they made room for some attractive molding.
I've since checked moisture levels in the floor, and they're just what they should be - less than 1/3 of what I measured with the previous floor.  I'm confident that the new floors will stay put for a long time.
The only hitch: we had a bit of a miscommunication about whether I wanted the whole house redone or everything but the kitchen (I asked for quotes for both).  Vlad ordered wood for the smaller job, but we wanted the larger.  We went ahead with the job with the understanding that the additional wood would be shipped in time to complete the job as originally scheduled.  The supplier was slow in shipping the additional wood needed, so we ended up having to be out of the house a few days longer than we had anticipated.  The final result, though, was totally worth the headache.

FAQs for carpet repair, refasten, or stretch projects in Milpitas, CA

Removing a rug costs around $0.40 to $0.50 per square foot. This includes the fee for a contractor to roll up the rug and haul it away in a vehicle for disposal or recycling. If they need to move furniture, they might charge an additional $0.25 to $0.30 per square foot of furniture.

If your carpet has minor damage—like a single area that requires stretching, patching, or cleaning—it might be less expensive to pay for carpet repair than remove and replace it. Repairing carpet costs around $210 per project.

The cost of carpet cleaning is about $190 for a three-bedroom home, so it’s a good idea to have your carpet cleaned at least once a year. But most carpeting only lasts 10 years. If your carpet is nearing the end of its life span, it might be more cost-effective to remove and replace your carpet than to clean and repair it. The average cost to install a new carpet is about $1,800.

Search our directory of carpet removal companies and services to find an affordable, screened contractor near you. All HomeAdvisor listings are vetted, reviewed, and rated by homeowners, so you can be sure to find a local pro qualified for your project. Get at least three quotes to compare prices and the timeline for your project.

Commercial carpet removal usually costs on the lower end of the carpet removal price range, around $1.10 per square foot or even less. Carpet installation contractors often offer discounted rates for larger projects, like commercial carpet removal and installation. Similarly, you might be able to negotiate a lower residential carpet removal cost if the carpet is pulled up throughout your entire home.

Most cities accept old carpets as bulk trash, but you may need to schedule a special pickup and prepare the carpet properly. Remove any nails or glue residue, cut the carpet into manageable pieces, and roll and secure them. Alternatively, you can take your old carpet to a local recycling center for a small fee, where it can be processed and repurposed.

Yes, you can remove carpet yourself if you're ready for a labor-intensive task. DIY carpet removal requires heavy lifting and tools like utility knives, pliers, and pry bars. The process is generally straightforward but time-consuming for stapled-down carpet. If your carpet is glued down or you're worried about damaging the subfloor, hiring a professional is best to ensure the job is done safely and efficiently.
