"Excellent Water/Well Testing Service from NextDay Inspect – Highly Recommend! I recently had a water/well test done by NextDay Inspect, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the entire process. From scheduling the appointment to receiving the results, everything was seamless and professional. Sonya, the inspector who came out, was amazing. She was punctual, thorough, and took the time to explain the entire testing process. She made sure I understood what was being tested and why, which gave me confidence in the results. The whole experience was smooth and stress-free, and I really appreciated how well everything was organized. The results were delivered quickly, and NextDay followed up to make sure I had all the information I needed. I can confidently say that NextDay Inspect provides top-tier service, and I highly recommend them for anyone needing water/well testing."

"They were prompt, professional, and thorough in their review of the problem (results of a radon test revealing higher than acceptable levels of radon), coming up with a proposal for a radon mitigation solution, providing an estimate, accomplishing the work (blocking off possible radon entrances in the basement floor and installing a venting system), providing a visible means to monitor performance of the mitigation system once installed, explaining what they were doing, and answering all questions I came up with. <br />"

"My wife and I have been putting this off for 2 years, mainly because we have run into a number of contractors who we didn't get good feelings from. Wolfgang was the complete opposite, and after a free home site estimate, we scheduled installation within 3 weeks (he was able to work us in sooner, but our schedules wouldn't cooperate). Wolfgang and his son showed up around 9:00 AM on the scheduled day and immediately went to work. It was a very cold day and they were great sports (especially having to do a large part of the installation outside). I was very comfortable leaving them alone in our house to complete the work, and was excited to see how well the suction PVC pipes were hidden from view above a drop ceiling in the mudroom. They explained that the suction fan was wired in an existing circuit and would use as much energy as a typically lightbulb (75 watts). This unit was placed along a wall of our bedroom and it is absolutely silent (I can't even hear it when I'm next to it outside). They did a great job running the pipes along a line of the home and unless you are looking for it, it is likely to never be noticed. The work was completed in 1 day (approx. 7 hours) and we had our new Radon reading in a week (down from 6.2 pCi/l to 0.7 pCi/l, under the limit of 4). Central VA Radon is certified, licensed and insured, and I would not hesitate to use them again (hopefully no need!) or to recommend them to friends."

"I waited a month before getting a test kit I called and was told there was something wrong with the Angies list orders but that I would be receiving a kit soon. It wouldve ben nice if they called me to tell me that though. The test results were quick and on par with other radon test I had done locally."

"Robert, the inspector and owner, has a great system. You call and request an inspection and he sets you up an online account. You sign the estimate/inspection agreement electronically. Once the inspection is complete, a few hours later he emails you and you can sign into your account and access your full report immediately. You can print it out or forward it to others as needed.  <br /> Robert was very easy to work with from the get go. He even helped work with the realtor to make sure all the needed utilities were on, etc. He showed up on time and spent several hours with us going meticulously through the house from top to bottom and fully explaining his findings as he went along. We learned alot about our new house and got some great suggestions on how to improve on things or keep up with necessary maintenance. The report was easy to understand and read. <br /> The inspection uncovered a subtle problem with water in the basement that we had not noticed previously. We are going to have some gutter work done immediately upon closing to address this. Overall, the findings in the inspection helped negotiate our purchase down $10K after the sellers reviewed the report. Totally worth it! Recommend highly. <br />"

"When my wife and I arrived at the appointment time, Greg had already been onsite for some time and completed most of the exterior inspection. We didn't fell rushed through the process and Greg went above to explain the findings and took time to answer all our questions. The use of the thermograph camera to identify missing insulation and disconnected air ducts helped to identify heating/cooling efficiencies that weren't immediately noticeable during the first walk throughs. <br /> <br /> At the conclusion of the test, Greg provided a thumb drive with the photos taken during the inspection, and the full report and summary was provided the same day in an easy-to-follow format for us future homeowners. Greg also set in place the "radon test" and will provide results within 48-hrs of test completion.  "

"I had a sump pump system installed in the Spring of 2016. The installation went smoothly and the system was tested and worked fine. A few months later, prior to leaving on a vacation, I tested the system by filling the sump basin with water. Water sensor did not work and pump did not come on. I called B-Dry and they came out and installed a new sensor and switch. Installation now works fine. Very satisfied with the level of service from B-Dry."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Mineral, VA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
