They gave me a lot of great advice throughout the process and their work product is second to none. They really to treat your house/project as if they are working on their own house. "One of the owners of this company, Geoff, and the representative of the company, Robert Ussery were unfailingly polite but refused to take responsibility for mistakes made by their employees. The installers broke a piece of granite, which was replaced, but does not match as well as the original to the rest of the countertops. They cut wires that it took two master electricians to figure out, took out plumbing parts that the plumber said were not necessary to remove and had to be replaced. I was told by Robert before the work began that they would remove and reinstall the cooktop and sink. When the work was done, they could not reinstall, causing me to hire a plumber and electrician as well as having the gas company reconnect the cooktop gas. They did not clean up after themselves and since they chose to cut the opening for the cooktop on site, there was considerable granite dust. The final product is satisfactory, but the process was exceedingly painful."

"I wholeheartedly recommend AB Spectrum for your projects at home requiring a Handyman. We recently purchased our home and had a number of items from the inspection report and other projects we needed done. These included installing lattice work on our deck to make it baby-proof, installing baby gates, running Cat-6 ethernet cable, mounting a TV, securing and caulking toilets, among a number of other small repairs, etc. Andrei is a consummate professional. He is detail oriented and thorough. When giving an estimate he took his time to assess the feasibility of each project and to plan out the process. He is timely and delivers as promised. He takes pride in his work and it shows. We couldn’t be more pleased with the result. After he finished our project, I immediately recommended him to my parents who had some damaged shoe molding in need of repair and shelving installed in the garage. I have his number saved and pass it along to any friend or colleague in need of a Handyman. I recommend AB Spectrum enthusiastically and without reservation."

"I highly recommend Julian to anyone seeking a professional, competent and caring interior designer.
Julian is a talented professional who coordinated every aspect of the redesign and was a joy with which to work.  Julian was there each step of the way to supervise all of the subcontractors involved in the job.  She was conscientious about making sure the redesign met my desires and that I was pleased after the selections had been made and installed.  Julian has great sources I never could have found on my own.  In addition, she never deviated from our discussed budget or made me feel pressured in any way.
My husband and I love all the changes Julian has made to our home and plan to use her again in the future.

FAQs for laminate countertops installation projects in Mineral Springs, NC

With the right care and a professional installation, laminate counters last 10 to 15 years. Wipe up spills quickly, clean with a nonabrasive product, and keep hot pots off the surface to prevent warping or scorch marks. Limiting prolonged moisture at seams also pays off. Your installer can walk you through simple maintenance habits that will help you squeeze every year out of your new counters.

Yes—if the existing laminate is solid and level, a pro can bond a fresh sheet right on top. They’ll rough up the old surface, apply the correct adhesive, and make precise cuts so the new layer sits tight. Skipping steps can lead to bubbles or weak seams, so this project is best left to an experienced installer who has the tools to deliver a clean, durable finish.

Absolutely, you can give tired laminate a facelift with paint, tile, or a concrete overlay instead of a full tear-out. The key is thorough prep: clean, degrease, and lightly sand so the new finish sticks.

Follow the product instructions for primer, sealers, and cure times, or hire a pro if you’d rather avoid the mess. When done correctly, these updates freshen the look and add a few more years of useful life.

Mix baking soda with just enough water to form a paste, then spread it over the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Wipe away with a soft, damp cloth—don’t scrub, as abrasives can dull the surface. Repeat if needed. For stubborn marks, ask your installer about cleaners made specifically for laminate.

Laminate isn’t built to battle the elements. Water, UV rays, and temperature swings quickly cause swelling, fading, and mold. Even a covered patio won’t protect the material for long. If you’re planning an outdoor kitchen or bar, skip laminate and choose a weather-tough option like stone, tile, or concrete so you don’t end up replacing your counters after the first season.

Traditional laminate isn’t the greenest choice. Most sheets rely on plastics like melamine and can emit trace VOCs over time. They also can’t be recycled at the end of their life. A few brands now use recycled pulp cores, but plastics still make up much of the product.

If sustainability tops your list, consider natural or recyclable materials such as solid wood, stone, or recycled glass instead.
