"Kitchen counter and new sink. Jeremy was great and work was well done. Went above and beyond keeping work area clean. When he was done, you'd never know he'd been there except for the great new counter. Highly recommended."

"We had a great experience with FiNest. They responded quickly to our request for a quote. We liked their online process and documentation of the work to be done. Their pricing was very reasonable. Dan was great to work with and did an excellent job on the repairs. We would highly recommend FiNest for anyone needing handyman services."

"Chris was accompanied me to go get the door and paint and chose a day to install it. On the day of install, everything went well and the project was completed on time."

Customers say: Quality work

"Would definitely recommend Apple View! We hired him to replace our decking with composite boards, but he did so much more for us. When removing the boards he discovered some of the supports were starting to rot due to carpenter ants, and he replaced those and basically shored up the entire deck. He is very meticulous in his work and makes sure everything is safe and sturdy. We are very happy with the results! "

Highly recommend and his card will be at the top of my list.... My tenants were incredibly impressed as well, very hard to do!"

"Tom from Lake Region recently installed four new exterior doors for us, and he did a great job! The project included a sliding glass door, a front door with sidelights, and two other single exterior doors. I only included pictures of the old to new front door, due to Angi’s limitation on file size. Tom's workmanship is top-notch. He was clean, efficient, and very knowledgeable. He ensured everything was perfectly aligned, sealed, and finished. He even hauled the old doors away. We are particularly happy with the front door entryway; the installation of the door and sidelights was flawless and has greatly improved our home's curb appeal. He is a true professional who delivers on his promises. I would not hesitate to hire him again for any future work."

"This was the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. Jason said he has a 100% satisfaction guarantee but now will not stand behind his work. They installed a tile floor that has uneven tiles over the entire floor where you can see the waves in the floor and even stub your toes on many of the tiles. They grouted and then didn't come back to wipe down the grout and tiles the next day like the instructions dictate. The trim work they did has large gaps everywhere and nails sticking out because they didn't use enough pressure in the nail gun. They also didn't install the metal trim piece between the carpet and tiles so now there is a gap where you can see the uneven cuts on the end of the tiles. This was scheduled for a 4 day installation and it has been over 4 MONTHS of my basement being tore apart and unusable. Now Jason refuses to stand behind his work and says they fulfilled the contract because the contract says they needed to install the tile and they did."

FAQs for doors (interior) installation and replacement projects in Minneapolis, MN

If your existing frame is in good shape, you can replace an interior door without changing the frame. This is a budget-friendly option because it saves on the cost of removing and installing a new frame. By choosing a slab door that fits your current frame, you'll save on labor and materials. Just make sure the new door matches the old one's dimensions for a smooth replacement.

Standard interior doors are 80 inches tall and range from 28 to 32 inches wide. Interior doors vary from 24 to 36 inches wide, depending on their purpose and the available space. Building codes require interior doors to be at least 80 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Knowing standard sizes helps you select a new door that fits properly in your existing opening.

It costs $600 to $2,000 or more to move an inside door. The total price depends on your location, the type of door, and materials needed to complete the project. Moving an interior door requires walling up the leftover space and opening up a new wall where you want the door to go instead. You’ll also want to plan for the expense of framing the new wall opening and adding trim.

Exterior door installation costs an average of $1,175, with a typical range of $525 to $1,800. The higher expense compared to the cost of interior doors comes from the need for exterior doors to be weather-proofed and they are often made of thicker, more durable materials. The associated exterior hardware must also be able to withstand harsh weather, so these cost more as well.

It costs between $300 to $2,500 to make a doorway wider on average. However, the wider you need the space to be, the more it will cost. Some homeowners choose to widen interior doorways to make the house more wheelchair accessible. In order to be wheelchair accessible, an interior door needs to be at least 32 to 36 inches wide. Also, some older homes just have narrow doorways due to the nature of how homes were built differently many decades ago.

It takes between two to five hours for a professional door installer to install an interior door, depending on complexity and materials. A pre-hung door typically takes around two hours, and larger doors like double French doors can take up to five hours. If you’re doing the project yourself, expect it to take a little longer than that, especially if you have little to no experience completing this type of project. Keep in mind that a pre-hung door can be installed about an hour or two faster than a slab door.
