"They came out to give us a bid.  They said they could do it while I wasn't home but I wanted to be there so I could make sure I was getting what we wanted.  I sent my half down check in the mail to them.  I did NOT receive a phone call letting me know when they would do the work, the process of building the fence, or anything from them. I didn't know if they had received the check or if they were working on it.  I had to call them a week later to find out what was going on.  I talked to Joe and he acted like I should already know the process and said we never let people know that we've received their money.  I think they should so people know if their fence is being built and the timeline.  They don't schedule you without payment which I understand.
The workers showed up on time and I left for an appointment.  When I got back, the fence was put in.  The fence looks beautiful but they stomped all over my flowers and had broke 4 big stepping stone rocks that were no where near the fence.  They did a terrible clean up job.  There was concrete powder all over everything and then they were about to drive off and I had to ask them if they were going to pick up the broken concrete, and they said "Oh yeah, we almost forgot".  I was very unhappy with the clean up.  I had just had a sprinkler system put in the week before and they tore up my whole yard but left my yard clean and didn't stomp my flowers.
I figured Tim's Fences would call me and ask me if I was happy with my fence and the job.  I waited 10 days for them to call and decided I would go ahead and call them.  I talked to Joe about how the communication was terrible from them and how the clean up was terrible and he said he was worried about his taxes and dealing with it.  I couldn't believe it!  I told him to join the club.  He told me he would have Tim call me back.  I was looking for any money from them but more just to let them what I went through and how it could be perceived from a customer's view.
Tim called me back and was so defensive from the beginning.  He said he had before and after pictures of the job but the pictures were just on the fence and not on the surrounding work areas.  He didn't believe me when I told him about the broken rocks and the stomped flowers.  He told me I should have called sooner (I could have) but I told him they should have called to see if I was happy too.  I told him about the workers almost leaving the busted concrete behind and he told me "No way.  We always clean up after the jobs."  I told him they were in the truck leaving and I had to ask them if they were going to haul it away.  They said they almost forgot.  I wished Tim would not have been so defensive and listened to what I had to say.  Had he just listened and agreed to look into it, my review would be very different and maybe would have used them again or referred them to friends. 
They did a beautiful job on my fence but if you are looking for a company to keep you in the loop of what's going on and not having to chase them down, then they are DEFINITELY NOT company you want to do business with.
