"The staff was friendly and professional however there appeared to have been a disconnect with the communication between the team which resulted in the kitchen sink not being secured, areas missing caulk and small section of my cabinets chipped off. These issues may stem from me being told that from one team that when the other team comes out, they will take care of it and when that team arrives, them stating "they don't do that". There are teams that work on taking the doors to the warehouse, countertop installers, etc..etc."

"<p>We had two handmade kitchen cabinet doors that were severely damaged after a kitchen remodel.  The doors, when they were remodeled, weren't put together well and had actually split into pieces.  I was doubtful that they could be put back together again, but wanted to try as the kitchen cabinets are all handmade and we couldn't get an appropriate replacement.</p> <p>I took the pieces to John.   He was able to put them back together, match the original finishes that had been darkened with time, re-glue them and they just look beautiful.</p> <p>I was thrilled.  John was professional, reasonable, returned the doors before he said he would, and his work was flawless.  I am so happy to have him as a resource for this type of work.  </p> <p>I just want to add that the doors weren't just split, one of the doors had a sheared off piece at an odd angle, he was able to fix that so it is no longer visible.  Perfect!</p> <br />"

"We were impressed from the start with responsiveness to our request for a quote and the quoted pricing for the work. However, we believe there was a miscommunication, so our expectations about the cabinet modification weren't clear, and what we received was different from what we thought we were getting. The work was high-quality, so no complaints about that. But communication could've been better. Our "tune-up" was a huge success -- the kitchen cabinets and vanity look brand-new. This was exactly what we were hoping for. The work was done in one day, and we love it.  <hr /> <br />"

"It went Great! We found out that Roberta Lathrop was visiting a mutual friend from Michigan at the same time that I had to move my mom from her 2 bedroom home to 1 bedroom senior assisted living apartment. During the visit with Roberta, I hired her for my dilemma. I took her to the apartment and I could feel her wheels turning. She started measuring windows, rooms, closets, etc. Then we went to moms house to figure out what needs to go to apartment and what goes to Sunshine Village. More measuring, pictures, furniture, nick naks, kitchen, even the kitchen and bathroom items had to be downsized and put in different, safer places. I would have never thought of putting cups, glasses, dishes etc., in drawers. The final thing that put tears and love in my eyes is when Roberta put a large picture up next to her bed. Moms daughter drew a picture of Jesus when she was about 15 that was just beautiful. It was facing her bed in apartment. Roberta divided things in bathroom closet for her level on walker. Once a week I would rotate to bring more down and know what to buy more of. I realized she had a great eye for locating things for handicapped people in a safe and organized way. All through her walk throughs, her wheels kept turning. Safety for the resident was her #1 priority. Getting all the loving things she wanted to transfer was her #2 priority. Mom was happy, safe and loved. I am now using some of Robertas hints on myself."

"Mr. Christianson and his helper John worked the first day when we were not home but the second day I was home to see exactly how particular they were with all the work.  They painstakingly went over each door and the trim over and over to make sure there were no bubbles, and that the colors all blended in well.  I saw them go over areas several times until they got it just the way they wanted it.   <br /> They covered all my counters and stove before starting, and cleaned everything up when they were finished to the point where it looked better when they left than it did when they came.  They went over my floor with a fine tooth comb to make sure there were no drips of anything that might have gotten on the floor before sweeping it completely.   <br /> We had two new cabinets put in and they completely stained them to match the rest of our cabinets and put their finish on them.  They were very parrticular in putting on the stain so that we had a chance to see it before putting on the final coat so that we could make the decision on whether we wanted it a little darker or not.  They were very accomodating in everything that they did.  As they did the work, they were fast and thorough.  It took only two days and my cabinets look like NEW.  I am just thrilled with them.  I can't even imagine what it would cost to replace 30 cabinets and 17 drawers and I feel my kitchen looks  like I just did that. <br /> I can't say enough about how happy I was with their work.  I would certainly recommend then to anyone wanting to "renew" the look of their cabinets. <br />"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Moline, MI

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
