"I bought my first house a few months back and unbeknownst to me it had major roof problems. I reached out to a few different companies, but no one got back to me. Leneva home improvements was a suggestion from Facebook. The owner Corey is professional and trustworthy. I hired them to do the job and about a week later I had a major leak inside my house. They quickly rearranged their schedule and ended up coming out weeks earlier to replace my roof. I also had a damaged overhang above my deck that was ripping away from my house and they removed that for me and patched up the house with new siding so it looks like there was never even an issue there. I would highly recommend the company. They are fair and trustworthy. They updated me every step of the way and kept in constant communication. I feel so much relief having my new roof before the winter starts!"

"Great paint job. It brightened up my whole house. Really good prep work. My walls were in rough shape. They made it look like new. Not to mention they have a great eye for design and helping me pick out my new light fixtures that they installed."

"It went incredibly well. I woke up one morning to a leak in my roof. I knew the roof was going to need to be replaced at some point, but I was hoping I'd get another year out of it. The roof was in bad shape when I bought the house. I immediately started calling all of the roofing companies I could find on Google. It was early so I was leaving voicemails. Kasey from James and Whitney was the first and only one to get back to me in a timely manner. He was incredibly helpful on the phone, walking me through how to put a tarp over the impacted area. He even swung by later THAT DAY to check and make sure it was installed properly and to assess the roof. I knew it needed to be replaced so we went right into talking about estimates. The estimate was within my budget but the new roof came with a FIFTY-YEAR WARRANTY for parts and labor. You just can't beat that kind of warranty on an asphalt roof. We were scheduled within a week and I had a brand new, perfectly installed roof within a month. Kasey and his team were super respectful during the installation. When the installation had finished, Kasey inspected every inch of my property to pick up any tiny bits of trash and leave our lawn spotless. The whole process was so easy and stress-free. 10/10 would recommend!"

FAQs for wood shake or composite roofing installation and replacement projects in Monmouth, ME

Cedar shakes and wood shingles might seem similar, but they have some important differences. Cedar shakes are hand-split, giving them a unique, textured appearance that adds rustic charm to your roof. They're great for homeowners who want a distinctive look. Wood shingles, conversely, are machine-made, providing a smooth, uniform appearance for a more modern look. Shakes tend to be more expensive due to the craftsmanship involved but offer exceptional beauty and resilience.

A well-maintained cedar shake roof can last up to 60 years. However, factors like severe weather and improper ventilation can reduce its lifespan. You should consider replacing your roof if you notice persistent leaks, visible water damage, curling or splitting shakes, moss growth, rot, or missing shakes. Regular inspections can help you determine when it's time for a replacement.

When hiring a roofing contractor for your cedar shake roof, asking the right questions is important. Make sure they are fully certified and have extensive experience with cedar installations. Verify that their team is licensed, bonded, and insured. Ask for details about the materials they use, such as the type of underlayment and fasteners, and how they ensure proper ventilation. Getting multiple written estimates can help you compare options and choose a contractor who offers quality workmanship at a fair price.
