"This company is special. Serina did a fabulous job with her design ideas and communicated perfectly about what to expect. She went out of her way to help me adjust the cabinet color when I needed guidance. Joe and his team did an exquisite job of refacing our cabinets and the detail was amazing, we love the end result. I highly recommend this company."

"Complete kitchen remodel. Anyone who walks in for the first time says, "Wow." That's the best compliment a company can get. Just seeing our kitchen has lead to many additional customers for American Wood Reface. Professional, timely, and talented. One neighbor said, "I can't believe they answer the phone and respond so quickly." In today's service market, that's hard to find. We also called them back to install 20 more cabinets throughout the house."

Small jobs welcome

"This was the absolute best experience that we have had with any contractor. Rex was a dream to work with and all of his staff, whether they were painters or cabinet door and drawer installers were extreme meticulous. When I called to schedule an estimate for the job, Rex, the owner, actually answered his own phone. WOW! The work was done in a very timely fashion. And the kitchen looks wonderful. Very happy with Carolina Cabinet pros and would highly recommend them to anyone considering a kitchen redo."

"Predatory Sales and Subpar Quality Mad City's process is predatory from start to finish. Three hours of high-pressure sales tactics in my own home, even after I repeatedly stated I needed to discuss it with my husband. After the installation the field manager acknowledging the wave and gaps in the wall, he told me that while it didn't meet my expectations, it met their "standard of error." Let that sink in: Mad City Bath?s official policy is that crooked and wavy is good enough. If you value your money, or want a shower that is actually square and plumb, stay far away from this company. They perform subpar work, hide behind automated phone lines when things go wrong, and will abandon you the moment they have your money. Hire a reputable contractor instead."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Monroe, NC

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
