"To make a long story short, the day after he performed the above work another toilet in the house developed a very minor leak around its wax base. This toilet is directly above where he had soldered, in my basement, one of the new spigots to the existing copper pipe.
Bob said these were unrelated and I ordinarily would tend to agree. As for the toilet fill valve and flapper he replaced, he did not install the valve to code (not high enough in the tank) nor properly install the refill tube. The kit's instructions read: "WARNING: Do not shove refill tube down overflow pipe. This may cause significant water waste." Bob shoved the refill tube down the overflow pipe. He also used an older kit; newer, more water-efficient valve kits are available.
(To keep this review short, I'm omitting other aspects of his work I was also unhappy with.)
Bob did schedule and arrive promptly, which got me out of a bind as I was preparing to leave town, and he charged a fair price. But in addition to not solving one problem, he created at least two additional problems for me to fix."
