Hi, I'm Joe. I'm the General Contractor of the Z7Team. I run my own crew of dependable, loyal workers who love what they do. There's no salesmen, no middleman. Just the crew & I. When you make an appointment with us, you get me at your door, ready to help you with your home remodeling project. I'm hands-on, and come to the job site almost daily to ensure your project is going according to plan. Schedule an appointment today for a free quote!

"My wife and I worked with Joe to renovate our home in the South Bay. We basically tore everything down to the studs and did some reconfiguring of the interior, as well as redoing all plumbing and electrical. With Joe and his team, we transformed a home that hasn’t been renovated since the 60’s to the home of our dreams. We were referred to Joe by a trusted friend, and after a phone call with an overview of what our plans were, we met Joe in person at our home for an initial walkthrough. Both my wife and I were impressed with how thorough he was with details regarding the renovation; it was immediately obvious he was a master of his craft, with a vast amount of experience and knowledge in construction. More importantly, he’s down to earth and honest; his transparency was very much appreciated. Joe and his crew take pride in their work. He’d go above and beyond by suggesting certain looks or practical modifications to our original request; it often felt like he was renovating for himself! For the project, he provided a clearly marked timeline and walked us through all the options for both finished and unfinished materials. His encyclopedic knowledge of stores in the Bay Area saved us a lot of money, and we got exactly what we wanted to build our home with! Home renovation is never a easily forecasted task; there are many surprises or issues that come up. With Joe, we knew we were in good hands. When a challenge did come up, he made sure to explain the options to us and address it immediately. Communication is key in this process, and Joe excels at it - he’s very responsive by phone and text. His crew is polite and also share Joe’s willingness to educate and explain the process. All in all, we felt that Joe became a family friend in the construction business and have recommended him to multiple friends and family. If you are looking for top quality work, reasonable pricing, and a trustworthy expert, look no further than Joe Arielli and his team!"

Heartwood Residential is a full service design+build remodeling company, serving the South Bay Area since 2009. We are a fully licensed, bonded, and insured general contractor. In addition to our own hardworking, knowledgeable crew, we work with a tight knit group of local subcontractors. We work hard to ensure that all representatives of our Heartwood family share our standards of quality, customer service values, and professionalism. Our services include custom designed and built whole house remodels and additions, exterior renovations, and kitchen and bathroom remodels. We pride ourselves on our professionalism and superior customer service, attention to detail, and problem solving capability.

"Our kitchen was original to the house from 1931, including the faucets coming out of the wall, old wood cabinets that had layers and layers of paint, pink and light blue/green tiles as the countertops, a small area for the fridge that was currently empty, linoleum floors, and a weird column right next to the stove that turned out to be a stubborn brick column. We really needed someone to demo everything in the kitchen and upgrade it to a functional, usable, and modern kitchen. We first contacted Heartwood Residential through Houzz and Nick was prompt to answer and schedule an appointment do discuss our project. We had already talked to a few general contractors at the time and had an idea of what we wanted to do, which included removing a wall and getting rid of that brick column. We brought up the brick column with the other contractors and each of them said it would be a structural issue and they really didn't want to deal with it even if the price was not an issue. Nick was the only one who voluntarily went to check out what the brick column was in our basement and had any knowledge of what it was for. Turns out, it's for gases to escape and ran from our basement to the attic or roof. Another issue I had with other contractors was that they really wanted my husband to be there when they came to check out our kitchen. When I asked questions or expressed my opinions, they would look at my husband to answer the question in a round-about way. My husband really didn't like them because they didn't respect me at all. I also bought the sink, fridge, dish washer and a few other items while they were on sale and one of the other general contractors made a snide comment about what I picked out. Nick and Michelle were very accommodating with including the appliances and finishes that I already bought into the design they presented and they were able to find a way to hide the brick column and come up with an elegant design to the entrance of open kitchen. When Heartwood Residential started the demolition of our kitchen, they prepped our house: covered the floors, moved furniture, sealed off other rooms so most of the dust would not get into the other rooms. I set up a go-pro to take a picture every minute of the demolition and explained that I wanted a time lapse of this whole process, and they were very accommodating -- even moving the gopro to a better angle to get the whole thing. I would ask them questions about what they were going to do in the mornings and they didn't hesitate to stop and explain what would happen that day. At the end of the day, they would clean up and put all their tools away. If there were any issues or if something didn't look right, Nick, Jamison, Brandyn, or Elliot were prompt to call or text us to get it addressed. For example, we have curved ceilings in our dining room and since they removed the wall between the dining room and kitchen, the ceiling to the kitchen needed to be curved too. The issue came up with painting the wall and ceiling different colors and the solution was to add crown molding, like what we have in the other rooms. When I insisted that we use hue LED strips to light up the bottom and top of the cabinets, he said they can make it work and they did, even having the electrician come back a few times to make some adjustments. Towards the end of our project, I went around our kitchen and inspected almost everything. Some of the backsplash tiles were crooked, there were a few scratches on the cabinets, a few cabinet doors were not straight, etc....there were a lot of post it notes around our brand new kitchen to say the least. I can say that Nick and his team (mostly Brandyn) addressed each post it note individually with me, fixing each crooked tile, each hole or scratch, or each cabinet door. One thing that did go wrong with our project a delay because wrong sized cabinets were ordered, but I guess it turned into a good thing because they were able to use some of those cabinets to build a storage cabinet that fit next to our washer and dryer. To finish the project up, Nick personally came to check each item off, moved our washer and dryer into their correct spots. Overall, we're very pleased with the professionalism and courtesy of the services provided by Heartwood Residential. They were a pleasure to work with, always keeping us in the loop with what was happening during the renovation, we were comfortable leaving our home in their team's hands while we were out, and overall attitude of everyone from Heartwood. They were definitely a pleasure to work with and will be the first ones we call for another remodel."

Please visit https://boltdownthebayarea.com/contact to get your free inspection set up Residential Seismic Retrofits anywhere in the Bay Area! Most homes built before 2005 have inadequate connections from the foundation to the wood framing to protect against the forces of a significant earthquake. We inspect your crawlspace and evaluate current foundation bolts and washers for size, spacing and placement. We look for un-braced cripple walls and evaluate how the bottom of the floor structure is connected. This inspection is FREE. We apply the principles of "Standard Plan Set A" to address any vulnerabilities found during the free inspection and provide you with a line item quote for doing so. It is the most cost effective way to mitigate against earthquake forces. Will your home be safe enough to stay after the next big quake?

"Bolt Down the Bay Area completed all the work and documentation required by the Earthquake Bolt and Brace program. This government program will pay up to $3,000 for seismic upgrades. The work was done on schedule and was praised by the city building inspector. Also, the contractor was always promptly responsive to any questions, even helpful to me in navigating my EBB dashboard. I would definitely recommend this contractor for anyone considering earthquake mitigation work."
